He Got Better By William Reich I had a ton of books on my to-read list, then my brother came up here to live and then Lois McMaster Bujold, an actual author who doesn't respond to reviews, came out with a new masterpiece.So I am late writing this review. I have resisted joining the author's relatives and creditors who have been giving his books five stars but I had to give four because the books _have_ been good.This one is better. The author used a somewhat more complex than usual time structure and was successful at it and his characters are more clearly differentiated. His prose "voice," which has always been his strongest point, continues to be good.When I give five starts, I often have to point out that the system is not fine-grained enough and that there are _better_ five star books. This isn't up to _War for the Oaks_ or _Kim_ to choose just two immortal works but it is awfully good and well worth reading.

Sanders This is the third installment in a fascinating new science fiction series by a new author, and I would recommend it to just one type of person: someone who reads. The first book in the series is "Eejit" and you should definitely start there, if you got here first by some "mistake", because this series already begins very much in the middle of something quite complex. I can't wait to find out more the author has planned, and I definitely support him because this is the sort of writing we NEED out there.I buy his books from creativespace, which is why I don't have Amazon verified on my reviews.As I have said in other reviews, but it is worth repeating: I read a variety of authors, old and new (Asimov, Erikson, Clarke, Heinlein, Sanderson, Martin, Jordan, Harkaway, Reynolds, Banks, Stephenson, Donaldson, etc.), and am extremely particular about who and what I read. I do not like to waste time on bad or even average writing. I *will* not waste time on it. I don't have the time to waste on authors who have little to say. I have stopped books in the middle. I have skipped hundreds of pages to see if an interesting concept has finally been brought to fruition at the end of a book that just seems to never get to the point.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Twisted tales By Nereid These dark and twisted tales do not disappoint and some of the endings were a total surprise. Tim has a way of weaving his stories that always leaves you wanting more, even his other series makes me wish there were just a few more pages left to read when I have turned the last page. I am not a huge fan of short stories but would definitely recommend these books to anyone who is a fan or who loves scary stories on a dark and gloomy night around the campfire.

By i Love Reading COLONIZATION, the third entry in the Invasion series by Platt and Truant, is an exciting ride. Like INVASION and CONTACT, COLONIZATION continues to surprise. The landscape is becoming more alien, the aliens are more terrifying and human alliances are more capricious. The book shifts direction again. Every chapter leaves you guessing and gasping for air. Like their other books, COLONIZATION explores big ideas from not-so-obvious perspectives. The science is presented at just the right level of detail, supporting, rather than overwhelming the story. Because, in the long run, that is what Platt and Truant deliver, a great story with impeccably-drawn characters, descriptions that pull you into their world and a serious threat. What more could you want?

Each character pulls you in, so that you feel you know them personally and have a vested interest in their part of the story. The story concept feels personal yo the reader and you will want to help as you turn the page.Minor problem with formatting kept me from being able to read in my favorite kindle app for iPad format, which is two pages displayed side by side. I found it annoying, but did not take off stars for it. It may be a kindle update problem that affects Indy authors.Highly recommend this series. Obriant One of the things that I'm enjoying about this series is not knowing where the story is going to go next. I am totally caught up in the characters and in being swept along by the plot. The authors have given the aliens complete technological superiority; yet, their "alienness" (apparently) creates opportunities for the humans. From the first book until the very end of this book, we've seen the story develop completely from the point of view of humanity. However, the very last scene begins to reveal a piece of the story from the aliens POV. Very interesting. Others who are more broadly read than me may see elements of this series in other author's work. For me, other than it being an alien invasion story it feels very fresh. Didn't know if I would enjoy it to the end. Well, book 4, here I come.

It is not just about what they are (witches and warlocks) but who they are a family who sticks together. They seem like your normal healthy, happy family at a quick glance from the outside, but they are also way more. I am eagerly awaiting the next book as I can't wait to see what happens in their feud with the Mateis(another family of witches and Warlocks) and what is going on with the Elders? This book will appeal to a wide variety of ages as I think people of all ages can relate to the characters. You can't help but fall in love with the characters that Aiden James has created in this story. there is so much more that I could say, but it's already been written in others reviews. So all I can say is hang on to your seat and enjoy the ride. You won't be sorry you bought this book!

Blanchard I am an avid reader of the books of Aiden James, liking and following his efforts in the literary genre. I have observed the writing talent grow with each. Aiden works a lot with series of books and Welcome to Denmark is a first in the newest series and well recommended. What makes it so good for me? The writing is not powerful and epic. The writing is laid back, telling a straight story with wonderfully descriptive characters that spring out of the page. You can "see" them in the way they talk to each and interact. You will be amused at their eccentricities and the sense of real wit. Welcome to Denmark also brings out the fun of a Harry Potter experience without getting too serious. You know from the beginning the Radus' attempt to "fit in" with the citizens of Denmark is doomed to failure when magic is in their blood and a natural part of their life. The situation is made worse when the dreaded family of the Mateis make their appearance. They have been trailing the Radus because of an ancient blood feud and are out for revenge. Raise your wands, ladies and gentlemen, the magic is about to begin. The magic of the magic and the magic of the writing talent and master story teller of Aiden James. Crack open the book, sit back, read, and enjoy. That much is a guarantee, I promise you. Download this book, you will not regret it, and stay tuned for next installment sometime in 2015.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed this book By Pelaqita Thoroughly enjoyed this book. "Welcome to Denmark" is written from the view point of a 125-year-old warlock (who appears to be 18 years of age). At the beginning of the book, Sabastian Radu is not happy with his family's decision to uproot the family from Chicago to rural Tennessee in order to escape their arch enemies (a rival family of witches and warlocks). This book is the first in a planned series and by the end of it, I was eager to see what happens to Sabastian and his family in the upcoming books. I enjoyed the fact, that the ending did not leave me hanging - the book felt complete. Normally, I do not like series as some authors seem to just write a story and then "chop it up" into smaller books in order to create a following. NOT so with this book. The story was complete and functions as a stand alone book. Love the new book, Aiden and I look forward to the next one in this series.
