I'm just a few chapters in and it's Monday night and all the eligible men in Buttermilk Falls will be at the bakery. But it's not Monday night! It's Wednesday Happy Hour on the next freaking page! But I continue reading on anyway. Wednesday night means it's the Summer Fling where women bid on men they want to have a summer fling with. But, oh no, the bachelors are all gone and poor Emma wasn't interested in any of them. Wait! The reporter who is going to write a story about Emma's magical cupcakes decides to jump on the stage and put himself on the market. Emma, can't stand him but she bids anyway and gets the bidding up into the thousands (What, really?) This author needs to get herself an editor and/or someone who will be honest with her. There was a lot of promise with this, but it doesn't work as written.This book was free, but I still want my time back. I've warned you. Don't do it.

By Cara Ross So we start this story in a small town in New York State, called Buttermilk Falls, which on a side note, I think is so darn cute! I mean seriously, can you fall in love with a book just based on a name of a town? Because I think I did.Anyway back to the story, in a bakery in town we find Emma, a small town baker, who loves the town that her mother raised her in. But she is no ordinary baker, oh no! She has a special batter that helps the bachelors of the town find their mates, she does this on a special Monday night event, for football and partner finding.So now we will skip ahead to Jason. Jason and his friend Brandon are hanging around in Vegas when they are invited to a wedding. Jason, a reporter from the Miami Herald, hears the story of Emma and the special batter and decides to take a trip to Buttermilk Falls to expose Emma for the "charlatan" he think she is....we will stop there for now, as not to give the story away, but needless to say the story heats up (literally) as soon as these two meet.So I really enjoyed this book, it made me laugh and tear up a little, it also made me want to run one particular character over with a steamroller (you'll know who I mean when you read this book). I am thrilled that this story is not just all about the main two characters, but the support characters are just as important to the story. My favorites are Abby with her sharp wit and Brandon for really being a bit clueless.So that being said, I give Batter Up 9 out of 10. I encourage you to buy this book, it is a feel good read and I for one really enjoyed it.

She has a little magic ability to show one bachelor the name of the woman he is to marry every Monday night. She has never been wrong yet or had a match end in divorce. Jason hears of her shoppe and looking for a story decides to go see what it is about. He thinks he is going to prove her wrong. Emma is not what he expected and the small town begins to grow on him as she does. When she meets Jason she doesn't like him even when she is attracted to him. She has been burned n the past and won't allow her self to get hurt again. Both will have to move on from their past and learn to believe in the magic to have a chance. Emma loves to help others but isn't looking for love her self. She is stubborn, has a temper and sometimes doesn't listen. She also can make you laugh even when she isn't tying to. Jason likes to go after a story and does not like to give up. He doesn't believe in what he can't see and really doesn't have his heart to give away just yet. He is very sexy and at times he can be just as stubborn as Emma. This was a sweet read. i enjoyed both Emma and Jason. The idea of revealing a soul mate in batter is awesome and I wish it was real. the whole town is small and I love the feel of it. Emma and Jason butt heads many times and I love how they do. It's nice to have a couple that isn't perfect and two people who stand up for what they want. Granted at times you want to say Emma open your eyes but then she will do something that will get you laughing. i love how Jason learns to let go of his past and that he took that step. For Emma even if she doesn't realize it she is holding on to her ex. Between these two and other town members it is never a dull moment. If you want a light hearted read, with romance, laughter and a little magic try this one.
