About the Author R.A. Salvatore was born in Massachusetts in 1959. His love affair with fantasy, and with literature in general, began during his sophomore year of college when he was given a copy of J.R.R. Tolkien s The Lord of the Rings as a Christmas gift. He promptly changed his major from computer science to journalism. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications in 1981, then returned for the degree he always cherished, the Bachelor of Arts in English. He began writing seriously in 1982, penning the manuscript that would become Echoes of the Fourth Magic. His first published novel was The Crystal Shard from TSR in 1988 and he is still best known as the creator of the dark elf Drizzt, one of fantasy s most beloved characters. His novel The Silent Blade won the Origins Award, and in the fall of 1997, his letters, manuscripts, and other professional papers were donated to the R.A. Salvatore Library at his alma mater, Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.Wil Wheaton is an actor, voice artist, author, and award-winning audiobook narrator. Among his movie credits are "Stand by Me" and "Toy Soldiers". His many television credits include "Star Trek: The Next Generation", "The Big Bang Theory", and" Generator Rex. "As a narrator of more than a dozen audiobooks, he has twice won the prestigious Audie Award, twice been a finalist for the Audie, and earned an Earphones Award from "AudioFile "magazine.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. good as always but too short By rbfive this story was written in R A Salvatore,'s u sual descriptive narrative..that is it was very well crafted. the only knock have here is how short a read it was. You can sit down and polish it off in lless than half an hour . And while I enjoyed it alot it did not seem a bargain at $3.99. and especially since I had since found out that this story is just one of a dozen or so in his book thecollected stories for $5.99..so save your money and buyhat and get alot more to read for your bucks

By Blake Williams While shorter than most other Salvatore books, this one does not fail to deliver the powerfully engaging story line so representative of RA Salvatore. I read it in 1 night! Salvatore entertains us with his dragon-lore. I found the book superbly engrossing...but also sad as well. Salvatore educates us on both the terror and cruelty of Dragonkind...but also of their majesty, intelligence, cunning, and even at times..."humanity" or ability to make morally correct decisions. Salvatore shows us the complexity of these long-lived creatures. And conversely, the "idiocy" and short-shortsightedness of the humans that are out to destroy them.

True Salvatore style in a hidden gem that I as a dedicated fan didn't even know existed. Well paced and described I liken it to the stories in Realms of the under dark vignettes that give great I sight into favored characters. Read it it is definitely worth while (and a bargain on the kindle)
