Not your typical hero By FallenFree This is a fun adventure that satisfies with a brotherly bond, life-threatening journeys, exotic cultures, endearing love, and heartbreaking loss. It's about antiheroes versus villains. It's about overcoming one's past and becoming something if not completely worthy, then at least something of more worth. It's well-written and edited, which is always a plus.

Most importantly it has what any good fantasy SHOULD have, a sense of mystery! Not the 'who dunnit' mystery, but the kind that makes the world bigger, the magic isn't over used or over explained, it's all very tasteful.Frankly this book deserves 5 stars but the last two pages makes my brain shudder, I don't know how the author will pull it off, hopefully not with a three way.

The plot is interesting, and while i could easily see a story with a prince imposter being 'unbelievable', the authors do a good job of keeping the main characters human and realistic.- The story is engaging and entertaining. The main character was easily identifiable and relatable, which made the book hard to put down.- I hadn't read the series that this story is set in, but enough background was given to make this a competent stand-alone.Negatives:- There are a few decisions/actions in the book which stretch credibility. I say stretch, because they seem improbable but not impossible. A few examples of this include the head thiefs decision, and the wizards decision.- There is a period where the main character is in a cave; there are alot of new elements introduced in this section, and it felt crowded, rushed, and confusing.- The ending was a cop out. I did not like it. I felt there was no way that a certain character would act that way given the rest of the book. The ending stopped this from being a '5 star' book.
