Beaulieu The Walking Dead meets Law & Order in this first episode of what promises to be a gripping mystery series. In Love-Haight, Spectre of Justice, a story that begins as an off-the-wall courtroom drama quickly takes an unexpected turn, and then another, and another, drawing us ever deeper into an intriguing mystery driven by insidious motivations. Jump on for the ride. It's going to be a good one.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Fresh take on Urban/Fantasy Horror By Zaz I really liked this book. It is a different take on the typical modern Horror/ Fantasy genre. The characters have a poignancy and sweetness missing in the standard hard boiled PI style of hero and heroine found in the novels of this type. There is less snappy repartee than heartfelt emotion which makes the stories more believable. If the book has a problem then it is the fact that it is written as 4 short stories which causes a lot of unneccessary repetition that can make the characters look too whiney and ineffectual. As separate stories in different collections that would not be the case but all together it can be a bit overwhelming. I still highly recommend it and eagerly look forward to the next installment.I read a lot of books in this genre. It has become so popular with publishers, that most of these books are now formula clones. That is why I hope that the authors continue to focus more on Thomas, Evey, Gertrude and the law. Because that is what makes these stories fresh.

Johnson-steger If you like a paranormal legal thriller with a hint of romance this book was written for you. Thomas doesn't let a little thing like being dead stop him from his "afterlife's" work when he pairs up with his tenant / soon to be attorney, Evelyn Love. Things aren't always as they appear in this rather seedy section of Haight-Ashbury. I was happy to find out that this is first in a series because one is not enough. There is a nice little surprise waiting at the end.
