Everything's great until she meets a gorgeous real-life merman named Finn. Suddenly, what she thought was a dream turns out to be a nightmare -- she's turning into a mermaid herself. For real. Yet when she returns to the sea to seek out Finn and reverse her transformation, she finds herself in the middle of an impending war between the land and sea. About the Author Sci-fi junkie, video game nerd, and wannabe manga artist Erin Hayes writes a lot of things. Sometimes she writes books, like the fantasy mystery novel Death is but a Dream, the sci-fi middle grade book Jacob Smith is Incredibly Average, and the Her Wolf paranormal series. She works as an advertising copywriter during the day, and she moonlights as an author. She has lived in New Zealand, Texas, and now in Birmingham, Alabama with her husband, cat, and a growing collection of geek paraphernalia. You can reach her at erinhayesbooks@gmail.com and she’ll be happy to chat. Especially if you want to debate Star Wars.

Finn-tastic By Hope To Read This book is a sweet mature teen/YA about finding out who you truly are, being comfortable in your own skin/fin, falling in love, and living a life with purpose. Author Erin Hayes has written a story that pulls you in from the beginning and keeps you interested in the end. I would be interested to see more from Tara and Finn and hope that a follow-up book occurs. If you’re looking for a new book boyfriend look no further than Finn! He’s heroic, protective yet not overbearing. PS you’ll love the dolphins! Skater Dude meets Sulfer Dude LOL***** 5 of 5 stars *****FTC guidelines require me to disclose that I received a copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an unbiased review. By Rainbow Dash Mermaid books are gaining in popularity, and this one did not disappoint. Tara has been drawn to the ocean (and mermaids) ever since she can remember, but doesn't know why. Despite her practical mother's protests, she takes some time off before collage to be a professional mermaid and swim in shows around the country. She thinks she is living her dream, until she actually becomes a mermaid.I dislike reviews with spoilers, so I'll leave it at that. This was a light-hearted, fun romance. The writing style was easy to read and I loved the under water creatures, especially Finn! (swoon!)

By ltg584 Erin Hayes has proven herself to be a completely versatile author, writing anything from middle grade novels, through adult horror and romance. How to be a Mermaid was a completely clean read, perfect for teens and even tweens. My adult self was wishing it was a little less PG, while my kid self kept expecting a singing crab to break into a fully choreographed musical number. It's a very interesting balance.I absolutely love the concept of professional mermaids. I could never do it, personally. Having my legs squeezed into that fin and breathing through a hose doesn't sound even remotely appealing. That just makes the whole story just that much more incredible! It's a whole world I know very little about, and I was excited to learn more. I hope to see some mermaids in person one day!If you were a fan of The Little Mermaid growing up (or hey, if you're still a fan... no judging) then this will be a nice reminder for you. There are quite a few similarities between the book and Disney movie, and also some really unique differences. The sea witch isn't quite so evil as Ursula, and I have a feeling that she has a very interesting back story, which I would love to hear. There will be a spin off novella with the upcoming Witching Hour Collection. I'm really curious to see if that story will touch back with these characters.
