By Diane Rapp If you've read Thread Slivers, then you've already been waiting (impatiently) for the next book in the series. Well, it's FINALLY here, and you won't be disappointed. There's more action, adventure, intrigue, AND more secrets revealed. (No, I won't reveal them in this review!)If you thought this series was another wimpy fantasy with fairies and elves flitting around, forget that notion. The clever author mixes Science Fiction with Fantasy in this adventure and gives hints of more to come. Duke is gathering forces for an epic battle with the Nhia-Samri, and Ticca is...well, she's a classic example of a feisty female with lots of secrets mixed with deadly skills. You might ask how magic and science can blend? No! I won't reveal more.Of course the story does not end in this episode, so be prepared to wait for the next edition. I was honored to participate in the early reading of this book and know you'll enjoy this piece of the adventure. If you haven't read the first episode, there are facts revealed early in this book to get you caught up, but go ahead and buy them both. I warn you! Start reading the Golden Threads Trilogy, and you'll be eager to know everything.The characters are complex and entertaining, but the secrets revealed about the history of their world should intrigue the most ardent science/fantasy fans. Take the plunge and start reading today. Then you can join the rest of us, tapping your toes while waiting for the next one. It is a trilogy so there's only one left for the author to finish. (Unless he's very sneaky.)

If you had an issue with the first book you may very well have one with this one. We get a far more detailed look at how this world works and was formed and the rules the govern it. The things going on in the story also get bigger in scale.The thing I HATED is quite simple the cliffhanger. Yes people we have a huge one at the end. It happens right at the climax, right when something huge was finally going to happen, something that had been building for a good portion of the book and BAM!!! There's the ending. So if you liked book one you will most likely enjoy book 2, but be warned. The ending will NOT leave you satisfied, you WILL get frustrated and annoyed.

There was a lot of new details and players but it then seemed to become information "overload". All these details made me out of breath and the plot moved hardly anywhere. It was like going in a circle while moving slowly forward. Some of the new players were not developed much prior to actions happening where you were suppose to "feel" for these new players but it was really a stretch since you are like "who are they again and why are they important to me" ?Also the personal development of old characters sometimes felt really unpolished. The emotions or actions just seemed to be surface stuff or not even believable. No real understanding of the person came across and there was some details that just seemed to be forced in. Someone thought "X", well why?? it is never explained.You have situations with no info on how and what happened prior to a scene. Players just show up and you don't know why or how. Then they just leave again. Why even bother?? It was disappointing and distracting.Then it ends with the same "cliff hanger section" that the first one had so its like why put this here?? Its begs one to ask the question "are you trying to add page numbers so it meets the 'epic' page length"? Why else are you putting that in here?Kinda reminded me of a "whirling dervish" with a paint brush. A lot of paint going on the canvas but I can't tell what its a painting of.I really enjoyed the first book much more. I hope the third is better.
