In fact, I bought that boxed set to get this book, because I had read the first Riverford Shifters book, Transformation (Tempted by the Jaguar #1), and loved it. It is a really neat world. The lion shifters are the bad guys, trying to take over the world, and willing to do any horrible thing to other shifters. They are still hiding from humans, but plan on ruling the humans in the future, too.Our heroine is a rogue lion shifter who had been raised and trained to be an assassin under the orders of her lion clan leaders. Tori was unwilling to be a killer, and had escaped when she was sent on her first assignment. At the start of the story, she is almost captured by three lion retrievers, sent to bring her home to be tortured as punishment.Our hero is a wolf shifter. Just so you know, the wolves hate the lions, and in general, the lions deserve it. They meet when she is being chased by the retrievers, and he really shows himself to be an alpha wolf, a good guy, and a hero.I won't tell the whole story, you have to read it. There is action, love, sex, shifting, battles while shifted, and a great world that you learn even more about. The hero and heroine are both kick-a$$.

By Madhatt Tori has been on the run for three years, she abandoned the lion clans during her first “job” as an assassin because she refused to be a killer. Chased by three lion “Retrievers” she jumps into a truck (naked) and is met with hostility by wolf shifter Nolan. She swears she is a rouge and has info that would be very important to the pack elders and needs to get to Riverford. He is suspicious but when his truck starts filling with bullets he takes off and decides to figure her out later. She convinces him that she will give him info if he can just get her far enough to have a chance of escape, he slowly starts to believe her and drops her off where she should be able to head for safer grounds, he plans to backtrack and go to a friend’s house to throw off the lions. As she heads south some time later she sees Nolan’s truck hidden in weeds off the side of the road, she knows the lions have him and she risks herself to go save him. Great short read, the chemistry between Nolan and Tori was Hot! I really like the idea of worst enemies finding common ground (and love). Sweet addition to the Riverford shifter series, highly recommend it!

Sometimes, you just have to. In this case, I've been a rabid fan of the Violet series since the first volume. I like this character so much I named a character in my books after her, so yeah, huge fan.And here we are, at the end of the series. I confess, my greedy hands were itching for this to come out, but at the same time, I dreaded it because I knew it was going to be the end of the series. I just couldn't bear not having more of it. Still, as soon as that pretty golden fingerprint showed up on my Kindle, I was all over it.What a satisfying and truly emotional conclusion! I can't say much because it would be total spoiler territory and I don't want the author to hate me, but the way it ended was really the only proper way for it to end. This volume opens up into incredible character dialog and action. They are genuine and totally alive on the page. Absolutely beautiful.And I very much enjoyed the development of the two characters we were introduced to in the previous volume into fully realized and vibrant members of Team Violet. What I'd really like is to get this whole series on audiobook...and yes, that's a hint to the author.

Deftly picking up from the end of Betraying Violet (Violet Series Book 4), Tom, Violet and their allies discover Dynamic General's nefarious plan to reap profits with the creation of a new weapon. With this new armament, any two-bit dictator with enough money will bring mass chaos to the world, putting the balance of power in jeopardy. With this plan about to come to fruition, they must be stopped at all costs. But to do this, Violet and Tom must infiltrate Dynamic General's impenetrable stronghold nestled deep in the Chinese mountains in order to thwart their plan. Otherwise, the consequences will be catastrophic if they fail in their mission. They construct a really audacious, risky but ultimately clever plan to accomplish this and there are a lot of unexpected surprises in this quest to stop Dynamic General once and for all, leading into a highly explosive and powerful finale. But with these high stakes, will everyone make it out of this alive?This finale aims to tie up all the loose ends from the serial, giving everyone their time to shine and bringing the story full circle. The ensemble of allies that Violet and Tom have assembled, which include their daughter, a hacker, a wise submersible captain and a trusted ex-military man, all a part of what I called "Team Violet". This motley group of people united by a common cause against Dynamic General came together under the unlikeliest of circumstances to become a close-knit family. The author put a lot of thought, love and care into defining them as rich characters and their familial relationships with each other. As a result, you really get invested in them when they get put into jeopardy. And since this is the fight of their lives, they all get great scenes, definitive endings and it might even make you feel a little emotional when you find out what fate has in store for all of them.The author really has an ear for dialogue, conveying deep emotions in each of his characters and their relationships. Not only does he capture this well, the humor here is a lot of fun too. The witty banter between everyone really sparkles, especially in a four-way verbal fight between Violet, Tom, Eve and Songbird, which was especially uproarious when you find out the cause of the fight, providing a lot of levity before the eventual final battle.Violet and Tom's story is truly a love story for the ages and form the heart of this narrative. I've truly enjoyed this serial from beginning to end as it has been a real thrill ride. At about the half-way point, I briefly stopped reading because I realized I didn't want it to end! But that thought was eventually overridden by my desire to see what happened next, savoring the final half of the story especially. This grand adventure achieved an absolutely epic ending that was action-packed and at the same time, heartfelt and genuinely meaningful. A worthy finale to a sensational serial!Please note that I was given an Advanced Readers Copy of this eBook. A favorable review was never expected or asked for. But I'm happy to give one because I enjoyed it so much. =)

The Final Installment in the story of Tom and Violet By Bill Matthews Once again I was an ARC reader of this last installment in the series on Violet. I have enjoyed the privilege for most of this series and have enjoyed each and every one of the stories, including this one. In this final installment, Tom and Violet once again team up against their opponent Dynamic General. You'll have to read the story to find out how that turns out. If you have not read all of the stories then you will want to do so to get the full impact of the characters involved.On a personal note, in the late 70s, one of my customers was General Dynamics - producer of the F-16 (an aircraft used my many countries at this time [if you like aircraft and pilot stories, check out Dan Hampton's work]). Then there are two other "connections" - my grandfather's sister married a man whose mother was named Violet Danzy Logan, i.e. the name of the main character and the author's first name.An excellent story.

These are great quality, especially considering the cost! I like writing with felt tip pens, and the stock on these cards takes the pens very well — no smudging! The stock is thick enough, and the foil detailing looks great. I would definitely buy these again.

By Jackie Cooper This is a wonderful coloring book filled with imaginative and original floral patterns, that vary from whimsical & simply detailed, to realistic & highly detailed, plus everything in between.But that is not all; then the artist has added an excellent collection of other images for variety that will keep you inspired and coloring.The artwork is flowing, with meticulous attention to detail, creating a book that is a delight to color.This book will inspire all those who love flower patterns.1. 61 illustrations printed one per page (the back of each page is blank) on light weight, bright white paper.2. All markers and Gel pens that I tested including Triplus fineliners and Fiskars Gel pens bleed through the pages, I just place a piece of paper under the page I am coloring to prevent damage to the next picture. The paper is good quality even being light weight, coloring with Bic mark it and Sharpie ultra fine markers, the markers do not spread outside the line as you color, even the thinnest lines.3. Most of the images lend themselves well to Ultra fine markers, Gel Pens, or Colored Pencils4. The pages in this book are not perforated, and it doesn’t lie completely flat, but the images start far enough away from the binding so you can color the entire picture or remove them easily from the book.5. The cover picture is not included in this book and is not representative of most of the pictures in the book; a few are whimsical like the cover.6. The Illustrations include: 3 Landscape images, 5 with fish, 3 with butterflies, 4 with birds, 2 with geometric designs, 2 leaf pattern, 1 fruit basket, 1 feather pattern, 1 abstract landscape, and 39 imaginative varied flower pattern designs .7. By Cinci Lin I've been purchasing lots of coloring books for adults lately -- this is one of the nicest I've received thus far. There is a huge assortment of designs, ranging from simple and abstract to intricate and spectacular. Some pages will appeal to folks wanting simplicity and other pages will appeal to those wanting to focus intently for hours. There are some whimsical pages in an illustration style, and there are some pages in a grand scenery/landscape style. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with this coloring book. Very nice and wouldn't hesitate to purchase multiple copies again!Editing review to add: pages are printed on nice, thicker paper. I did not have issues with bleed-through (I use Ultra Fine Sharpies mostly). Pages are not perforated. I didn't have any difficulties removing pages from the book - they separated from the binding fairly easily and cleanly.

Unique and groundbreaking By A Customer Although steeped in psychoanalytic jargon, and obviously intended for the professional, this book is remarkable for its groundbreaking, revolutionary view of the dynamics of bi/lesbianism, and tells a fascinating story.This book reports in graphic, sexually explicit language the case histories of 6 adamantly committed lesbians referred to Dr. Siegel by their lesbian support group who became fully and permanently heterosexual upon treatment!This clinical result is even more impressive when you realize that Dr. Siegel treated a total of only 12 lesbian referrals from that same lesbian support group--so that fully one-half of the test group became fully and completely heterosexual, at which point the lesbian support group angrily stopped making referrals to Dr. Siegel!The key to successful treatment, as outlined exhaustively by Dr. Siegel, is that these 6 women were ultimately able to identify with her as a strong heterosexual mother, something that all had lacked as children. In doing so, they were able to successfully complete their psychosexual development with her and become fully and exclusively heterosexual.Since her own successful countertransference with all 6 patients was itself the essential element, in effect this discovery and clinical observation could only have been made by a female psychoanalyst, such as Dr. Siegel, which in itself makes it a truly remarkable story!Dr. Siegel further outlines her view that today's sex industry is also uniquely a bi/lesbian phenomena. Her sociological research conclusively demonstrates for the first time that female sex workers are in fact predominantly bisexual and lesbian.She details many other aspects of each patient's histories, including each parent's role and other novel, determining psychoanalytic factors that she believes contributed both to their original lesbianism and to her own successful treatment.Again, the only weakness of the book is that Dr. Siegel must translate each observation into tedious and laborious psychoanalytics, which detracts somewhat from the book's fascinating and unique content and popular appeal.The book is groundbreaking in that Dr. Siegel's successful treatment is unique, unsurpassed, and, in my opinion, itself a phenomena worthy of study.

The politics of defiant dominance By A Customer The intractable controversy of nature vs nurture continues as modern science tries to understand whether homosexuals are born or made, and what evolutionary adaptation is served by homosexuality. In the final chapter of this book, ("Parental Profiles"), Elaine Siegel spells out the subtle dynamics of reverse dominance hierarchy, as expressed in the pre-oedipal familial forces which worked together to create 6 female homosexuals: The pre-oedipal(maternal)forces which she describes in these families operated in all 6 families to undermine and reverse the pathological and emotionally non-nurturing Oedipal(paternal)dominance.From an evolutionary viewpoint, such powerful pre-oedipal forces defy Oedipal male dominance in favor of the weaker, smaller and subordinate mothers and other females. In point of fact, this clear-cut pattern of offspring siding with the mother and other female family members against the father consistently emerges in the case histories of all the sexual perversions: For example, homosexuality, by retaining the primary feminine identification with the mother, effects reverse dominance either through maternal alliance(in the case of sons), or through sexual alliances with an alpha female(as in out-migrating bonobo females). Sado-masochism has its roots in powerless deception in anticipation of punishment, while fetishism, transvestitism, voyeurism and exhibitionism employ deception and stealth to defuse the threat of castration by dominant males. Such employments of deception pose ongoing "security risks" and thus effectively monopolize the attention of alpha and other dominant males, so that mothers and aunts successfully gain an advantage, and can artfully achieve reverse dominance through the employment of such strategies.Female out-migration is an incest avoidance mechanism that evolved to prevent mating with unidentifiable fathers in humans, bonobos and chimpanzees. However, when out-migration is not possible and generational captive incest does occur, mothers defensively create and employ pre-oedipal alliances with offspring in an attempt to drive out the offending, dominant males. Generational captive incest is thus the explicit evolutionary precursor of pre-oedipal reverse dominance hierarchies.Theoretically, the precarious balance of female versus male power(and pre-oedipal sexuality), in both human and primate societies, is ultimately driven environmentally by levels of prenatal maternal stress, and developmentally by the effect of distant or absent fathers. Maternal stress, in turn, is modulated by its own hierarchies of genes, hormones, and environmentally-driven sex-typed behaviors.

A Waste of Time By A Customer Elaine Siegel has written a book in which she openly presents her negative countertransference toward her lesbian patients as a clinical modality to change their sexual identities. What is most amazing about this book is that the author is so open about her contempt for her lesbian patients.

21 of 22 people found the following review helpful. A Strong First Novel and Solid Military Fantasy By Zach Stiger's Tigers is your fairly standard military fantasy, and that's not a bad thing. The titular protagonist, whose family is infamous for their military exploits, is serving as a captain in the Imperial Legion. He is given command of an infantry company in order to escort supplies and reopen communications with a cut off outpost. The plot is not overly ambitious; Edelheit includes plenty of action and progression and does a good job of wrapping things up nicely while setting the stage for the sequel. Roman history is the primary influence for the book; the soldiers are armed, trained, and organized similar to Roman Legions.I found the military focus to be mostly accurate; the smaller details such as dialogue and interactions were a nice touch. I also enjoyed the concept of political interference to be well handled, something also drawn from the Roman influence I believe. The setting is low magic, allowing Edelheit to really focus on the melee combat and high lethality of warfare. Fans of the early Black Company novels should find themselves enjoying this book. I'm not well-versed in Roman history but I don't think Edelheit drew on it heavily enough to give the book more than a base coat. The writing was serviceable but with many grammar errors, none of which were enough to impact my enjoyment. I also found the protagonist rather bland and uninteresting- I would like to see more development and "screen time" with other members of the company. I usually feel that limited world building is a good thing, especially for up-and-coming writers, but in this case it was almost none existent. I could tell you little more about the setting other than that the Empire is at war with someone in the north and combating a rebellion in the south (where the book takes place).I read this book using Kindle's "borrowing" feature; however I enjoyed it enough that I intend to purchase it and the sequel, when it arrives.Pros:-Good military fantasy.-Well written action.-Plot wraps up while preparing you for the sequel.Cons:-Needs more character development.-Setting and world needs more development.

Good military fantasy By Peter Good military fantasy.This entertaining military fantasy is centered around Captain Stiger and is modelled on a fictitious Empire which is very reminiscent of ancient Rome and its legions.Thankfully, the book is told mainly from Stiger’s perspective rather than having multiple POVs which always destroy continuity. It is very much a scene setter, introducing the main characters and the setting. One does need a little patience as there is little world building and several aspects of both the world and of the personal background to Stiger are mentioned without further reference.I am assuming that all of these and more will be revealed by the author in future instalments in the series; this is one of the reasons why I will definitely by purchasing the next book when it comes out as the scene setter is strong enough that I want to discover more about Stiger and his world.The narrative flows well, Stiger the character is solid if a little inconsistent (he goes from ice cold commander to berserk fury at the drop of a hat) and again I suspect that the author will solidify the commander in later instalments. Although there is a little magic, it is muted and unobtrusive. The plot develops very satisfactorily and the setting is intriguing and becoming quite epic.I am very much looking forward to the next book.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Finally, a good story mixing a Roman military setting with elements of Fantasy! Solid plot, political intrigue, ancient mystery. By Tiberius Discovering this author for the first time, I was a bit sceptical about the mix between a Roman military history setting and Fantasy elements such as elves and magic. I was an avid role-player of D&D and other games in high school and most of university, and remain passionate about ancient military history and Roman Republic and Imperial warfare in particular. But previous attempts at mixing those worlds came very short of my simplest expectations. Not so with this series, and the customisations used by the author to adapt Roman practices to a fantasy universe really hit the spot. The book focuses on the scion of a noble imperial family after he's earned the rank of Captain in the hard northern war against the Rivan kingdom. Captain Ben Stiger is reassigned to the Southern Command to help quell a rebellion, and discovers an inept leadership and diseased and demoralised legions. He's assigned his own company of troops to run a convoy escort to a remote mountain fortress whose garrison seems to have been isolated by the rebels. Along the way, the determined officer trains his men back into an effective force, gets on the trail of a centennial mystery, and faces the minions of a dark god. His lieutenant Eli Far is actually an elven ranger, a fact which surprises most of the people they encounter as few elves venture out of Highborn society any more. The author does a good job of describing the physical features, motivations and coherent personality traits of the lead characters, and convey the gritty realities of legionary life and training very effectively. In this first book of the series, fantasy and magic only play a very minor role, and their progressive easing into the story makes it all the more engrossing given the plot twists they enable. The pace is steady, balancing world building and story telling with action scenes. An enjoyable Kindle discovery, look forward to reading the second book in the series!

This breaks up the doshas in a difficult to read chart..due to poor formatting..once you figure out your dosha, the rest of the book others a few nice recipes for the specific type of each dosha. There are no explanation as to why or why not your should eat certain foods and at least one instance where it states avoid tomatoes for this dosha and then gives a recipe for that dosha that uses tomatoes...I find that confusing particularly since you are never told why to avoid tomatoes in the first place. I wish there was more teaching and less of here's what you probably fall into and there's what you eat using a less than competent chart that had me in all three doshas..it is not really concise or easy to tell where you truly being on the chart. An interesting read for free but not informative,I would not spend any money on it but since it's free it's ok.

My wife is a curry lover. This book can help me cook curry for her. I want to learn different dishes at home. I wish there would be added recipes from this writer. The good thing about this book is the measurements per ingredient. I am weak at estimating how much to put in a recipe. This is a great start, though, for great cooking.

Perfect book and guide for documenting food and gastrointestinal symptoms By Star Lite I recently received this book as a gift after my Primary Care Doctor suggested I start keeping a food diary for my upcoming visit with the gastroenterologist for chronic stomach pain/heartburn/reflux. For this purpose, I find the book perfect and well organized as it makes documenting my foods and symptoms easy.Receiving four and not five stars because I feel a little self conscious about having this health issue and the book isn't discreet, so I am documenting on a smaller pad during the day at work and transferring it over at night.The other smaller food diaries were less helpful because they are geared for weight loss and there was less space to write in as far as symptoms etc - and having not seen the specialist yet, this book gives you more of an idea of what they might need to know, information I would have otherwise omitted.Hopefully the gastroenterologist embraces it too and she doesn't think I'm one of "those patients." I'm not a food diary person (failed weight watchers) but getting desperate for relief so there's my motivation. Here is hoping that this diary will help me get diagnosed and pain free faster.

This product came out about the same time as Occult Adventures and, I suspect, for that reason was overlooked. However, it's a solid contribution to the Psionics system and includes plenty of new archetypes, powers and monsters related to undeath. This is a great book but you will need Ultimate Psionics to use it. All and all, great product!!
