By Amazon Customer I was turned onto this author after reading a short story in Alien Chronicles, then immediately bought the first book in the trilogy, Nexus. That book was really good, and this one was great. After the first book ended, you were left wondering....what is their purpose now? How will they continue? How will they escape the Argus?One thing he did in the first book that carried over into this one, was to make sure there is this personal vested interest you have developed with each of the crew mates. Nicolas Wilson does a great job of trying to bring depth and personality to the crew of a starship....I mean, a freaking starship here. This isnt a book with only 7-10 characters you might meet throughout the book. He solves this by sumarily lumping most of them together by divisions; ie:Security, Navigation, ect. And then bringing one or two people fro that section out to get to know. It works really well for me. It made me feel like I got to know the whole ship.I loved Haley in this book. When she isn't joking about watching Captian Drew shower, she is dropping funny one liners, or coming up with ways to save the crew. She is evolving and learning and its fun to read about.There wasn't as much about the alien world exploring in this book as in the first one, because this book was more about what happens when you say "F.U." to the MAN, and then have to face the consequences of that action, and how to build the community up after it. There isn't really a lot of time for alien time. But also because 2 of the alien stories that occurred during this book were short stories in other books/anthologies. So they while happened chronologically during this book, you won't read about them here. Those are Bogdan's and Elle's stories (both are also excellent).From a technical stand point, there were some minor spelling and grammatical errors. However, I was reading an ARC in exchange for my honest review. So some mistake are expected. They were minor enough to not distract me away from the reading.Overall, I would highly recommend this book and author to my friends, family, and anyone who enjoys this genre (and do regularly). He is a fantastic story teller. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment.
