PRAISE FOR LUKE SMITHERD'S WRITING: "With Luke Smitherd's novels ... the reader gets to experience that wonderful and rare marvel of experiencing something new and original ... every time I thought I knew where the storyline was heading, Smitherd deftly turned down a new and unexpected path." - AintItCoolNews.com Tom's entire world is about to come to a very definite end. In a day that starts with amnesia, mysterious old men, and a scrawled, barely-legible note that says only "DON'T TRUST HIM", follow Tom as he tries to piece together not only his memories of the day before, but the answer to the question ... what happens when you never let go of the ones you love? PRAISE FOR LUKE SMITHERD: "I couldn't help myself and read this is one sitting" - simon211175, Amazon Vine Voice "Fantastically written characters who make you care about them right from the off." - Andy Pettifer "It was one of those books where you tell yourself you will read just one more page, then look at the clock and realise that it's 2 hours later. I would thoroughly recommend it" - Elaine Hosegood "I have owned a Kindle for about 2 years and downloaded some excellent books for very little cost but Luke Smitherd's works beat the lot" - Silversmith, Amazon UK Review "As soon as I started reading I was completely sucked in, which very rarely happens for me. I couldn't wait to get home and read it each night. I laughed. I cried. I did actual real life gasps of horror." - Katie, Amazon Review "I spend a lot of time trawling through the kindle book store looking for cheap books, relying on reviews to make my purchases. I have come across some less than average books using this method, but also some real gems. This book definitely falls into the latter category. It had me gripped from page one." - Steve Sut, Amazon UK Review "This story could, probably should, be made into a movie at some point. I honestly have to believe that Smitherd should contact a producer/director and make a fabulous movie deal. Totally enjoyed the read." - Bonnie Gleckler Clark, Goodreads Want to download the first few pages of this book for FREE so that you can try before you buy? It's absolutely fascinating, because from his pictures (and videos) he looked like a pretty normal guy. But everything he writes is worth reading, because he has such interesting and different ideas. This one's scary, but mostly because of the afterword. This novella examines a variety of responses to escaping from the end of the world, I think that gives you the idea without any spoilers. And that is where Mr. Smitherd's unique and interesting mind comes in.It's definitely worth a read. I have to read everything of his twice because the first time I race through to find out what happens. Then I go back a week or two later and read it again to enjoy his use of language and interesting ideas. He's the most interesting new author I've come across in ages. So if you haven't read anything of his before, you can start here. Or you could start with Stone Man. (My personal favorite.) Or... Oh, heck, just collect them all. He's worth it.

Edwin Fritz, author This story took a little while to get going, but once it did it really got me where it counts: My psyche. My thought process went like this: "Now what the heck is going on here? I dont get it. It's just a night of bad drinking? That doesn't sound like Smitherd's usual style. Wait, why did the neighbor guy react so violently? Ok so there's definitely something deeper going on h- Oh s***! ...Oh S***!!"Such a creepy concept & the slow build absolutely added to the whole reading experience. As with "The Stone Man, this story only makes me want to read more of Smitherd's works.

By Jason Jones I only know how to write reviews in cliches, so here it goes.Smitherd really is the real deal. His stories never disappoint, as they are well-written and original. No "heard it a thousand times" stories here. This story is a fine addition to his growing body of work.
