It began with the first book featured in a book bundle I bought entitled 'Secret Worlds' (a GREAT value with some equally GREAT stories!!).The author does such a fine job weaving all the details and dialogue of this secret vampire world. I highly recommend this series and will most likely read more from this author.

It is well written isn't slow at all.The story flows well and reads pretty fast too. Why not 4 stars like the last book though? Well I'm not wholly sure because everything I wrote above is true, but... for some reason I just couldn't wait for this book to be done. Maybe it was just that I knew what was going to happen so it wasn't really a surprise to me or I guess I could have been bored with it. I do sometimes get that way with series If they aren't really exciting, but usually not on the second book so, ok maybe it's just me because it is a good book, but I chat give it 4 or more stars if I just wanted it to be over. I also don't think I will read more of the story's after this. Usually I do so that also says something, but you may feel differently. I do recommend reading it if you read book one though if you read the first book. It ties the whole story up and answers all the questions you had about everyone.

Great finish to the story By sherry Christenson I don't if this book is better then the first or if it was because its pucks up where book 1 ended with one if the most romantic scenes ever but I love love loved this book! Michael is such a romantic and understanding man. This book picks up right where book 1 ended but from Michael's point of view. I didn't think I could love that scene anymore then I did until I saw from his perspective. His devotion to Amaia is unwavering and the friendship with Meg and Liam grows even stronger. Great storyline, strong characters, some you love some you love to hate and a perfect ending. It doesn't get any better then this

This action/adventure fantasy novel was really quite an interesting read! Mr. Daniel W. Koch had such interesting complex characterizations with a unique storyline that it was hard not to get lost in the book!Gage is the sheltered prince of Aboridge a broken place with a constant threat of war at the forefront with two types of people his own and the sorcerer’s. His father the king wants to step down giving the kingdom to Gage’s sister Princess Emmi making her queen as opposed to giving Gage the coveted spot of becoming king. Gage is treated and tended to as a prince should be but since he has never been groomed for becoming king he dreams of getting lost or running away every chance that he can until in one of his escapades of dressing as a villager he meets Logan a sorcerer thief.**Spoiler Alert**Gage was really an interesting protagonist. I felt sorry for him since no one really talked to him in the palace. Yes he was a prince and maybe that had something to do with it he came across to me as being naïve, self centered and very ignorant of the politics that were going on under his nose. I guess a lot of this had to do with that fact that he is young and that he really doesn’t care about it unless it impacts him personally. Gage had this pet Igly which even up to now I still can’t imagine what this thing is supposed to look like but that I totally would like to have one as well. The thing purrs, has a tail and will sit on Gage’s shoulder so I instantly thought maybe perhaps it is a cat. Also Igly is independent and seems to like or trust certain people which I totally associate with cat-like behavior. I did get irritated with Logan several times in the fact that he doesn’t trust Gage enough to tell him what he has planned. I think Logan needs to be honest with him especially since Gage does everything he can do to help him even honoring him by letting him become an advisor to him. Logan is not the least bit grateful in that respect to Gage at all. I wondered why Gage didn’t leave the palace when his life was in danger. Why stay and attempt to set things right after seeing your whole family decimated? Do Gage and Colette get married? What happens to Ceciley? I’m kind of thinking that she would never harm Gage or his people since her feelings for him might overrule what could happen but since she split from Emmi I’m not really sure. What happens with the rift between his people and the sorcerer’s does peace finally reigns the land or what? Mr. Koch lastly kind of ended this book abruptly that here I was totally involved in the story and the characters then it just ends and I never figured out what happens. I do hope that Mr. Koch will write more about Gage, Colette and Logan that if there is a continuation of this book I will definitely get it just to see what happens with everybody. I still enjoyed the story that I rated it four stars; can recommend it for people but be forewarned there is fighting which might be inappropriate for readers younger than eleven and will get more works from him!

The book was well written and kept my attention throughout. It was particularly pleasant to read a fantasy that stands on it's own as a single novel rather than the typical fantasy which is but one small piece of a stretched out story covereing over 3 or more books.I guess my only gripe is that a little more world building could have been done. It is a mighty strange world.

Koch does an excellent job in his first foray into high fantasy By Johannah A Wildly different from his previous series, The Descendant Series, Koch does an excellent job in his first foray into high fantasy. Aboridge is an engaging country with an intricate, well-developed sociopolitical history that Koch weaves in flawlessly throughout the novel's plot. Both main characters, as well as the supporting cast, are multidimensional and intriguing. I am excited to read more in this series!

Ellen faced more than just the Zombie invasion, she faced the monster that man can be. But she prevailed, and joined a new community, gained a new 'sister', and found that wounds can heal and you can learn to live again.Now that community is threatened. Not just by zombies, but by a rival community; human marauders who will stop at nothing to take what others have built from the ruins of society. Ellen's new existence and purpose is threatened once again. And the central question is, can one afford to become too comfortable. Have they really built a safety net, or are they sitting ducks?In response to that, Ellen joins Fallback team 3, a team charged with forging a new safe house, a refuge if the zombies can no longer be held back. They not only survive, they forge out communities with purpose and structure. They don't know what lies outside their walls, but in them, they are forming a pretty compact unit, and I was sad to see that threatened. Her books are not just straight zombie gore, they are social commentaries. (Re: the way Ellen's life was threatened by remaining human's in The Dead Survive)Bottom line; this book is perfect for fans of the Walking Dead, urban fantasy, and just someone who wants a damn good book. You will do better is you have read the first book in the series; The Dead Survive, a lot of things are explained in that first book. But you won't go wrong, this book is a fast, engrossing read. Jenkins I enjoyed reading this fast-paced zombie romp and hope to go back and pick up the first book in the series, also. It read just fine as a stand alone, but I loved the fluidity of the prose and the voice of this story. It sounds like the first book is well-worth a read, too. I could tell from her thoughts and actions that Ellen, the heroine has matured and become more selfless since the first book and I’m interested now in reading the story that brought about such change in her.Here we have a tight knit group of individuals who have suffered horrendous losses and must now split up in order to better defend their community and ensure their survival. Ellen describes that journey with a youthful, contemplative voice I quickly found endearing.If you love Walking Dead you should enjoy this exciting book. I intend to read the whole series and follow the adventures of Ellen and her friends as they struggle to bring sanity back into a world ravaged by disease and plagued by barbarism.This book was given to me in exchange for my honest review.Reviewed by Laurie-j

Not 100% fully invested By Cheryl Koch I did not read the first book in this series, which probably accounts for a slight reason of why I had some troubles finding that connection with all of the characters in this book. However, this did not deter me from still reading and enjoying this book. I like that the author infused life in the characters and not made the zombies just a second string or the typical type of zombies.Ellen for sure is a leader and strong female heroine. She also has sass. Some of the other readers commented that they were not feeling the love interest between Ellen and Ty. I did feel the connection. It was not in your face but one that started out slow and grew into something real. However as much as I did like this book there were times when I could get easily distracted so I was not fully 100% always invested in the story. Yet, I was always able to jump right back into the book when I did come back to it.

Dr. Davis helps empower patients with the knowledge to question and have a say in safe surgical methods. As a retired physician I feel this book is informative and extremely helpful in allowing a patient to have some input into the care they receive. Good work Dr. Davis.
