Unlike a previous poster I wouldn't call it "what it takes to establish a settlement on Mars" but a tale based in what it would take to get there and do initial manned exploration in a meaningful way with today's technology. A well though out story, well told, with good characters, and researched to be realistic. Held my interest through the 625 pages of story text and I'm looking forward to the following volumes. This is a large format book without large format print. As such you get your money's worth in terms of story length but without getting board. Couple pages of glossary and a couple pages of maps are tucked in the back of the book.

The book is full of suspense and excitement. The author, Gregory Gates, goes into a lot of detail especially what it would take to establish a settlement on Mars. He draws his characters from his experiences in life. It is a well thought-out book.

The covers haven’t really been all that great or consistent... UNTIL NOW! Because wow; when Kayla Stonor hits the mark she hits bullseye. As far as I’m concerned, her latest offering is cover perfection.The story: Having been tortured, experimented on and sold to the highest bidders by his captors, Zeus Windsor is on the run – and on a K’lahn killing spree of epic dimensions.Qui commander Meseri is honor bound to escort this broken killer to Katar to be reunited with his team. Having already picked up Raiss Tyrone and his (view spoiler) half human half K’lahn/Qui hybrid mate, she soon learns that convincing Zeus she’s there to rescue him isn’t the real challenge: Zeus is haunted by nightmarish recollections from his time in captivity, and is suffering from partial amnesia and a detachment disorder. He’s a danger to her crew, to Crendea and even his comrade-in-arms, Tyrone. As for the man in question, he’s intensely aware that he’s missing all memories of what happened to Jerome, a fellow officer. Nagged by the suspicions that Zeus may have come into contact with another, dangerous faction on the galactic arena, Meseri suggests dissociation therapy as a way to salvage her charge’s sanity and reveal the secrets he is keeping. By exposing him to the tortures he endured, they hope to be able to piece together his memories.Initially terrified and revolted, Zeus – a natural alpha – comes to crave Meseri’s punishment as well as her sexual allure, demanding more punishment than she’s willing to dole out. Meseri’s and Zeus’s coupling is gritty and dark, yes – but also combustible. Not that there isn’t some comic relief to be had. At one point, Meseri suggests (view spoiler) and yeah, I giggled like a naughty teenager who is caught redhanded whilst reading naughty magazines... It really highlighted how different the Qui and human are. As it turns out, this is just our first reminder of how vastly different the human mindset is from the Qui way of thinking.With all four living POW’s now reunited at Katar, we’re entering a new phase in the Qui/human relationships. Up until this point their major problem has been to keep their female and man-parts under control whilst constantly being bombarded by mating pheromones by their alien travel companions. And I have loved every second of it! But the hard part (pardon the pun) of having characters who share an addictive pheromonal attraction – and as a result spend a lot of page time doing the nasty instead of getting to now each other on a deeper level - is the lack of progress in the main storyline. Well, no more:At Katar, reality comes crashing down pretty harshly. Each and every character is brutally - cruelly - reminded that love, honor and duty can be worlds apart. The Qui can be fiercely protective, yet sweet and tender to their chosen companions, but there's also no denying they started the war that decimated Earth in the first place. Can the humans live with the knowledge that Qui justice is swift… cruel… brutal - even to those they love… and somtimes very unfair from a human POV? Will they at some point have to choose between duty and love, with devastating results?Suspicions flare on both sides, reminding them that it’s not easy to go from enemies to lovers in a heartbeat – that they are the exception - and their unions are opposed by people in high places. How, exactly is Earth connected to the new/old threat that is looming? Things are not looking good for the already war-torn planet. But it’s not all bad. The doctor aboard Meseri’s battle ship makes an interesting discovery that could potentially have a major impact on the people of Katar and Earth in times to come… Very interesting indeed;-)Submit By Treaty drew me right in, it kept me in a constant state of suspense ( and... ah... lust) - the hallmark of an unputdownable read. I was very happy when I discovered that there will be at least two more books in the series, the longer the better IMHO. The intriguing Qui deserve nothing less.

By Phenomenally Me Much more intense than the others for sure while the others dealt with budding romance while also facing the difficulties of war, and differences among races in the galaxy. This book was more on sexual submission and domination. Meseri is ordered by the Qui Empress to bring back a Lieutenant Zeus back to his comrades after the long war between the humans and Qui have finally ended. On her mission Meseri encounters a shell of a man who has suffered a lot at the hands of the lizards who had done unspeakable things to him. They start off on a rocky start of course with everything Zeus had went thru and his distrust with everything that takes the formed of the winged lizards. So when he meets Meseri all hell breaks lose. Of course Meseri is trying to be the "voice of reason." She knows the Lieutenant is suffering because of his imprisonment and torture and she tries any means necessary to help even if she has to go out of her comfort zone. She gives Zues all of her, her body, her pleasure and her complete submission in order to ease the insanity that is slowly warping his mind. Ms. Stonor focuses more on Zeus and his POV stems from the thoughts in his inner mind an awesome whirlwind book that has just the right amount of decadent darkness in the sex scenes that make it ohhh soooo awesome.I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A darker twist to the series By Kristy Heinicke I received a free advance review copy from Kayla in exchange for your honest review.Is it just me or was this 1 slightly darker?? Don't get me wrong each installment in the series has slight dark aspects, but I found 'Submit to Treaty' darker. There is a warning at the very begining of the book, so please read before you enter.Even with the added darkness I was entranced with Zues' story getting back from the darkness caused by his torturers. How Meseri unkowingly knows how to bring him back from the brink is truely masterful.I highly recommend you read this series from the start, as not only do you get individual storylines but they all intertwine to create... well I'm not sure yet, as I'm yet to read what Kayla has in store for us, but it's bound to be wickedly amazing. I definitely can't wait for the next book in the series.

Poorly written fan-fiction that only dedicated fans of the franchise will enjoy By VestedSongbird Let me start off by saying that I am a complete fanatic when it comes to the BioShock series. I have played three entries countless times, and any time I come across some form of merchandise, I have to have it.I happened to discover this work and The Big Daddy (also by author Brubaker) here on Amazon and decided to add them to my collection. While The Big Daddy definitely was an enjoyable read and I believe fit in quite well with the story of Rapture, Welcome to Genesis read like an elementary school horror story and is barely supported by any actual canon from the BioShock universe. Spoilers follow.Set in the time following the events of BioShock 2, the book follows the story of Roosevelt (no first name given), a man working for the U.S. government, to find the mythical city of Rapture. He has his team wiped out, is kidnapped, and ends up in Rapture (now Genesis, hence the title).What entails is Brubaker's interpretation of what happened to Rapture after Eleanor Lamb escaped from Rapture in BioShock 2. I am inclined to think that his story is meant to be in the universe where the truly 'evil' ending to the second game occurs, where Eleanor Lamb kills her mother Sofia as well as her protector/father Subject Delta. While there is no way of knowing exactly what happened to Rapture following her escape, Brubaker certainly took no shortage of liberties in creating his own world where Lamb returned to Rapture and took power again.The one reason why I won't completely trash this book as garbage is because of his inclusion of items from the world of BioShock Infinite: salts and vigors. While these items do not belong in Rapture or this book at all, I cannot rule out the possibility that it is because of Infinite that this book is not complete trash: it is set in one of the infinite universes that Infinite brought into the scope of the world of BioShock. It may be nothing but a fan-fiction since creative director Ken Levine has said nothing about what occurred after BioShock 2, but the infinite-world possibilities that BioShock Infinite brought with it make the work a little more believable.That being said, the nuances in the world brought about by technicalities created by the very games this book is supposed to take place in are not enough to save it. Short, choppy writing and lackluster details are not something one enjoys reading, and poor character development is poor character development. If the author had actually spent some more time on details and the book was edited properly (on the back cover of the book, Bathysphere is misspelled twice in the same sentence, see photo for evidence of both improper spelling and subpar grammar), Welcome to Genesis could actually have been a welcome addition to the BIOSHOCK universe.Unless you are a dedicated fan of the BioShock series like I am and are interested in a fan-fiction about it, do yourself a favor and pick up Rapture by John Shirley instead of this book. I sincerely hope that if Brubaker releases any more entries, they are more like The Big Daddy and less like Goosebumps.

At first, I thought it was just a common story of an underworld adventure looking for mysteries, yet this one offered a whole new idea, a whole new principle. Instead of actions, the story deals with emotions. The Main Character, Roosevelt, specializes in human engineering and biochemistry joined the rescue team of octopus corporation in seek of the underwater city named Rapture. Though there were some inconsistency with the story like how did he managed to come to Genesis or Rapture through a submarine while in the first place it was said that all of his teammates were flung in the oceans when they were attacked by a leviathan. If that was the case, then the submarine will already full of water! Yet it isn't noted. However, I'm particularly amazed by the author,creating a story that emphasizes the importance of emotions in being a human is something I haven't think of. As I am getting older and older I felt like I am getting closer to my deadline which is to earn a specific amount of money before the end of the year. Yearly I am setting goals of how much should I earn but still ending up the year without earnings. Everything went to luxury, so discipline also takes place. I never thought that this book would open my mind to this kind of business which will let you earn fast and easy. But of course with a capital I can now start the stocks trading world. Good strategies and tactics, and at the same time the book is very friendly written as it is easy to understand by a person like me who is a beginner in the field.
