What I loved most is that Elizabeth openly talks about her own inner struggles with the nursing profession and then specifically shares how she got through them. Drawing from these experiences, Elizabeth compassionately demonstrates how fellow nurses can experience inner peace and joy in a profession known for uncertainty and heightened stress levels. She invites you, the healing professional, to consider that by taking care of yourself first, that perhaps you can then be of better service to others.

By Kay Slane I’ve been a nurse for over 20 years, and I thought that I knew everything about empowering myself as a nurse, and of course, everything about empowering myself as a traveling nurse.Though I thought that I had it all figured out, Elizabeth brought forth several ideas that I didn’t even come close to thinking of! Some of these concepts include:· She has been in the trenches and knows that all that you learned in nursing school really isn’t really how it is like in the real world of nursing.· Elizabeth brings the world of technology into nursing, and asks the question of are we taking care of patients or are we trying to figure out what to chart in the computer.· She illustrates how you, the nurse can make a change in a patient’s life, the unit’s health8, and the hospital’s prosperity.· Elizabeth teaches you how to use your critical thinking skills as a copying mechanism for everyday nursing projects and problems.· She expresses the importance of team work on a nursing floor, and how we should cover each other instead of blaming each other for things that don’t get done.· Elizabeth brings up the point of living in the moment and taking control of your nursing career.· She teaches us on how to let go of the simple things. By stjohnisle Ellizabeth lays out so simply yet beautifully how we as nurses can learn how to re-ignite that enjoyment and love of nursing despite all the newer challenges we face on a daily basis. As a practicing nurse herself, she is keenly aware of what we as nurses must deal and not just the many issues we confront but the pace at which nursing has become. I love that she gives us specific tips that we can use anytime, anywhere to turn our thoughts around and make our shift and our lives a less stressful and more peaceful place to be. I recommend this book to every nurse! It uplifts, recharges, re-ignites and gives one a more positive outlook on nursing and life in general. It definitely has given me a renewed love and joy of what I do as a nurse.
