Interesting book with both paranormal and steampkunk influences By Kelly *** I received this book in exchange for an honest review of it from the Goodreads group Lovers of Paranormal (LOP). ***When I first read the synopsis of this book I was a little hesitant because of the time period in which the story takes place. However don't let that little nugget of information in said book summary fool you, as the book itself was great! Despite the book not being as heavily revolving around trains as I thought it was going to be initially, it's still definitely a book I would recommend reading if you're a fan of unique books with a paranormal and slight steampunk influence.Immediately jumping into the book you're introduced to Annmar, one of the two core characters, who is a talented illustrator struggling to open her own shop, but finding herself with a lack of funds to do so. Ultimately she is cornered and must make a life changing decision.On the lengthy journey of the path she chose, Annmar's eyes are opened to things outside of the world she knew. In turn, she uncovers secrets of herself she didn't know existed, honed her skills in even more marvelous, breathtaking ways, and little by little befriends an array of an unusual, yet simultaneously interesting people.

By Book Lover In a world rich with flavor, The Unraveling is a unique blend of fantasy, steampunk, romance, shapeshifters and action. You get drawn into Annmar's journey as she searches for not only her past but her future - a future filled with magic she never believed existed. Daeryn is wonderful and I love how well the author contrasts his "normal" animal shapeshifter world against that of Annmar's prim and proper English upbringing. Yet the romance growing between them is so sweet that you can't help but root for success, despite all the odds stacked against them.I had the opportunity to read this story in beta and enjoyed it then. I love the changes and am even more excited about this fantastical world, the rich characters, and the intriguing story. My only complaint - I have to WAIT for the next book!!!If you like #steampunk, #fantasy with a sweet #romance and something out of the ordinary, do yourself a favor and grab this book. You won't be disappointed.

Characters, period setting, magical aspects, pacing, narrative structure,foretelling-it all came together and never slowed down. If anything, in some sections I would have enjoyed a slower pace just to savor those parts before events moved the plot ahead. It never lingers unnecessarily. Characters are eminently interesting and become familiar quickly.Now the wait begins for Volume Two!

Set in a low fantasy world, it tells of the brutal trials he goes through, while still managing to hold onto his humanity. A solid first entry in what promises to be an epic series.

Really enjoyed following Brann in his adventures in this first book of a promising heroic journey. I was drawn in immediately by the excitement of the tale. I enjoyed meeting his new companions and this led from one exciting scene to the next - making it a fun, fast read.The only reason this is 4 and not 5 star is the lack of women in the book. While I understand the lack on the boat - women were surprisingly missing from warlords' homes and villages - except for the one love interest. I hope the next book in the series will be a bit more balanced gender-wise. And in spite of this, I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series.

Book 7 Time Slip had the worst ending of them all with no ending. In the last 5 pages all this happens, overthrowing 8 books and there is no ending. It is Crazy. We are left with Jayne, heroine, standing in the council in the middle of the night with everyone in their PJs. Jayne announces there is a war going on in the Overworld/Heaven. She says she is married to a dragon. We just found her other marriage to Ben for 7 books was a sham, she had another lover, and now she has a dragon mate? and the book ends! What?No more explanation, it is a dead end. The author doesn't even pretend to have an ending any more. Save your money.This series did help me get through a bad flu so I spent the money. Don't waste your money unless you have a flu and are in a desperate place. Because this "series" never ends.

I really enjoyed each book By S. kronberger Grrrrr...what can I say about this series, as you can see I made it to book 8 which means I paid for 7 of them. But I'm asking myself why? The series itself was really good. I really enjoyed each book, my frustration stems from the fact that it should not be 8 books, it really wasn't worth spending the money for each book. This is one of those situations when the author should have probably only written 3 books but wanted more money (which she did achieve from me) so wrote 8 instead and the series isn't yet complete. The books were to short for the price asked. If they had each only be $.99 it would have been fine but $4.99 per book is overpriced for this series. So I guess I'm mad at myself that I got suckered in to paying so much for a series that should have cast half the amount.This would be a 4-5 star series if the author condensed 9 novels into 3 at the $4.99 price

By BigBangBookGeek I am a huge fan of the "War of the Fae" series, so when Elle Casey dropped the news that she was going to write new books featuring these great characters, I couldn't wait to read them!"Time Slipping" is the first of these new additions to the series, and it doesn't disappoint! Jayne and the other changelings from Miami are at it again!I hate reviews that include spoilers, so I won't write much about specifics, but the author has such a creative flair that by the end of the book my adrenaline was pumping as much as Jayne's!Although a couple of new characters are introduced, "Time Slipping" centers mostly on the group from Miami in a new situation that I think was a brilliant move by the author. Prior to reading this book I re-read the entire series, and "Time Slipping" pretty much picks up where the previous book, "Portal Guardians" ends, with Jayne preparing to spend time with Biad the dragon, who is the new portal guardian to the Underworld. As usual with any of Jayne's new undertakings things don't work out quite as planned.The author's creative genius never ceases to amaze me. She writes with such a flair for building on her characters' interactions with one another that as soon as you think you know everything there is to know about the relationships between characters, there is always something new and different going on that surprises the reader. Casey also has a flair for dialogue, particularly Jayne's talent for coming up with new ways to use every dirty word you thought had already been used in every possible way imaginable! So, if you are easily offended by a little "colorful" language, consider yourself forewarned!The last few chapters of "Time Slipping" are heart stopping and really got my adrenaline pumping! And, just as you think you have everything figured out, watch out for a huge plot twist! Finally, as with all of the other books in "The War of the Fae", series, and with what has become something of a signature of this author, "Time Slipping" ends with a huge cliffhanger, which only leaves the reader wanting more.I cannot wait for the next book!

By cc2015 As other reviewers have said, this is a great time saver and a great book to pick up if you want to know the information in The Compound Effect but lack the time to read through the original book. Eureka Books basically breaks everything down for you into key concepts that you MUST know (titled "key takeaways"), which are accompanied by analyses that will get you thinking as well. I highly recommend these books by Eureka Books as they are tremendously helpful!
