Realistic assessment of Ageing By Rafael This is an excellent assessment of ageing myths and misunderstanding of our conception of the old wise man. It also underscores the generation differences and why one generation sees reality differently. It's a comparison between the creative wisdom of the child myth vs the wisdom of the old wise man. A very powerful and frightening analysis of ageing and of its reality!

The principium individuationis is a phrase with a long and distinguished history in philosophy, extending from the Middle Ages to Leibniz, Locke, and Schopenhauer. In Jungian psychology, it is brought into the contemporary world as a psychological principle that speaks of the innate human tendency to become distinct and integrated-to become conscious of our purpose, who and what we are, and where we are going. Dr. Murray Stein is a supervising training analyst and former president of The International School of Analytical Psychology in Zurich, Switzerland (ISAP Zurich). He is the author of Jung's Treatment of Christianity as well as many other books and articles in the field of Jungian Psychoanalysis. Dr. Stein was also editor of Jung's Challenge to Contemporary Religion. From 2001 to 2004 he was president of the International Association for Analytical Psychology. About the Author Murray B Stein, M.D., F.R.C.P.C., is Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), and Director of the Anxiety & Traumatic Stress Program at UCSD and at the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System. His research interests include social phobia, panic disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Dr. Stein has published over 150 articles on these topics in professional journals such as "The Lancet" and the "Journal of the American Medical Association". He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America. Dr. Stein lives in San Diego.

John R. Walker, Ph.D., is a registered clinical psychologist and Director of the Anxiety Disorders Program at St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg, Canada. He is also Professor of Clinical Health Psychology at the University of Manitoba and supervises senior clinical psychology students in their training in treatment of anxiety disorders. He is an editor of "Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia: A Comprehensive Guide for the Practitioner" and has written chapters on social anxiety disorder and treatment of intense illness worries. Dr. Walker has a special interest in self-help approaches to treatment of anxiety disorders and has completed treatment evaluation studies demonstrating the benefits of self-help materials with panic disorder and social phobia. I saw him promoting his book (indie author) on Twitter, and decided to give it a try. What a great find. First, a question: Are you a Douglas Adams fan? Not the "I know he's a big author, so I'll say I like his books" kind of fan, but "quirky, makes you think, wait, how did we get here?" kind of fan. Cusick's first book, Meme, has some similarities to the Restaurant style: The protagonist is in a wacky situation, completely adrift but trying desperately to stay afloat, and keeps having his perception of reality challenged. Not like an acid trip, but just a little off - cats serving drinks at a bar, getting into a fight with a samurai - just another typical day (haha). If you tried to read Adams and couldn't keep up - don't read this, it will be just as confusing. For those of us who appreciate that style of story, grab your towel and get ready for another ride (sans towel this time)!

By Amazon Customer As Jack is a friend, I felt a certain compulsion to read this, his first novel, even tho' it is out of my usual genre (historical fiction), but he caught me in the first few sentences. I don't know why that should surprise me as I saw a lot of his own quirky personality traits within the characters. I also enjoyed the allusions to other things such as the "do you know Jesus" and who he turned out to be. Great twists -- I could never quite get where we were going until we got there, which kept me engaged. I would love a sequel and more of Meme. Cannot wait!

This is not a book...it's 4 pages long and the info is nothing more than a definition of what short selling stocks is all about and you could easily find the same info for free by simply googling short selling stocks.I have asked Amazon for a refund and I would recommend that they remove it for sale to maintain integrity in what they offer the public via their website...or at least they should tell you of the 4 pages of limited content...I have purchased many Kindle books over the years and this is a first for gutter level material...hope it's the last.

I don't have any experience with buying and selling stocks. After reading Mike's easy to follow guide on how to short sell a stock, I felt like I had enough information to start keeping an eye on stocks that will drop and gear up towards buying and selling soon. The content is brief and to the point, with a lot of great examples of how short selling works. It was also useful to have the web link to the Wall Street Journal's current list of high short interest stocks so I could jump right in to looking up stocks. This is a great reference tool that I plan to use when I am ready to jump in to buy and sell in the market.

Fortunately, I read this for free with my KU subscription. Had I paid actual money for what is basically an e-pamphlet, I would have e-mailed customer service and asked for my money back. If you want to learn how to short stocks, look for better sources of information than this rubbish.

In those series, the writing style is similar - high paced, informal language, gratuitous sex. Fun, but not very serious.This book has an entirely different feel, much more refined, profound and mature. Essentially, it's a single-character narrative, with the universe unfolding around one central character, Captain Sparhawk. Excluding that, nothing is the same as Larson's previous work. I'm anxiously awaiting the next chapter for what seems to be a significant shift in Larson's writing.

A new universe for Mr. Larson and it could prove very interesting as a series. Some of the science isn't great, but easily overlooked.I rate it PG-13 for language and violence. He doesn't disappoint with this book and his writing skills continue to improve. Earth has been severed from her many planetary colonists for over a century and a half. The "cataclysm", a solar flare event similar in nature to the "Carrington Event" of the mid 19th Century, destroys Earth's ability to access worm holes which makes deep space exploration possible.Star Guard Lt. Commander Sparhawk, a bumbling, by the book, Inspector Clouseau type character has the fate of the world thrust upon his shoulders when a derelict space ship is discovered out near the mining colonies of the asteroid belt surrounding Jupiter.Sparhawk begins to shed his innocence and grow towards his true heroic nature. Can he save the world? He is damned sure going to try... A fast paced adventurous romp. A great cast of characters. Another Larson success.

By JessicaRN I've been a registered nurse for almost a decade and bought this book as a reference to brush up on my rhythms. This book is perfect for someone just starting out learning about cardiac rhythms. I highly recommend this book!

If this is the author's first book then he is off to an excellent career and I look forward to and will buy his next book. Character development was good and generally believable, detail level was pretty good and story line was good. This was a relatively short book but had none of the increasingly more common tricks to make it look longer (like adding spacing). More of a long short story than a book but well worth the ninety-nine cents. Would like to see more detail and length in his next book.

Layne I get this strange feeling that I'm one of the few non-preppers reviewing this book (maybe not, but it feels that way), but I wanted to write this to show that non-preppers like it, too.I thought the practical advice peppered throughout the book was interesting, but the characters and the voice of the author were what did it for me. Yes, there were grammatical and POV errors here and there, but nothing that stopped me for too long, and nothing that a quick edit couldn't fix. Getting an edit is easy. Writing a sincere, interesting story is NOT, and thankfully Boyd succeeded in doing that.Throughout, the plot pulled me along, and as the end approached, I had a real hard time putting my kindle down. Overall, this first installment seems to me like its a realistic portrayal of what could happen both from a disaster and from a downfall of society standpoint. But I mostly like the way that a makeshift family builds around Blake and his simple, but honest nature. This story shows the bad that will probably come about if a disaster like this occurs, but it also shows the good.

I really enjoyed the story and found myself falling into the characters right away. It surprised me a bit since it usually takes me a bit longer to get into a story.Sure there were a few errors I saw, but they were easily overlooked and I powered right through them anyway. I found the story short but sweet and was really upset that it ended so quickly. That is the way shorter books are now and for the price at .99 cents or in my case Kindle Unlimited, makes perfect sense to me. Lucky for me the second installment was already out and I didn't have to wait for the next one. :)
