By Cheri Clay Having a pet that is sick or injured can be hard; you want to provide relief without using the harsh man-made medicines that can be more harmful with side effects, etc. However what can we do for our four-legged babies? This was my dilemma, wanting to help my dog I went on the hunt for alternatives. I found the Hobbs book for using essential oils for our pets. I personally didn’t know that aromatherapy could be used for pets. Nevertheless the author’s writing style is so wonderfully written, easy to read and understand helping me to get started with basic how-tos. I personally wish there had been more but you can’t go wrong with what Hobbs has provided. I loved that not only I found out what oils are best for certain aliments such as the cinnamon/clove/rosemary/lemon blend for dental pain but what ones to avoid such as garlic and cassia. Definitely a great find for pet owners seeking alternatives for their pets.

By Ruby Loves Adventure So as a beginner essential oil user, I never knew these things can also be used for pets. The book gives examples of which oils are beneficial for your pets, and which ones to stay out of. Also gives great insights on where to put it on your pet, and possible reactions they may have. I'm not sure I'll be doing it to my dog, but worth a try. It's an informative book, and good to browse through.

There were no formulas to dilutions of the oils. No information on how to apply and where to apply oils on our furry friends. Just wasn't truly helpful in general. Where does one get these oils? Grammer wasn't great either, needed proof reading.

Yet, clinicians facing the multiplicity of wishes, fantasies, and conflicts reported by their patients typically find a guiding focus on attachment security inadequate to the complexities of therapeutic work. By V M C Alina’s first book of this trilogy, The Edge of Hope, is a travelogue of a very strong minded woman more than it is about vampires… seriously!At every turn, just when people underestimated her, Alexa turned around and made us do a double take and so, when that ended in a major cliffie with her existence on the line, I couldn’t help but take sides and form strong opinions about those who put her in such a situation using ‘The Guide to Mastering Underhanded Techniques’, it seemed like.The second book, ‘The Breaking of Bonds’, picked up where the first one left off, and to my surprise, it did nothing more than to raise more questions about what was to become of the lovely girl Alexa once was.Waking up an outcast/stranger to both the vampire and human worlds, no one really knows what she is, how she is going to be when she recovers, or even if she is. And then, there was the big question of how and if she would be a danger to the vampire society where the portal manages to spit her out graciously.Enter Magnus: the reclusive Big-Man and Seth: the sidekick. Lol. Just kidding. Seth is a very well written character that you can’t help sympathise and love, despite his quirks. They take Alexa under their wing and help her acclimatise to a world that she is completely new to, and to which, she is a rather violent novelty.As we delve deeper into the murky waters that led to Alexa being the state she is in, finding out the culprit that was behind the brutality that she’d had to go through, we learn more about the original baddies, Anthony and his henchman. And also, why Louis was just a silent spectator in the proceedings instead of even trying to rescue her. Alexa is still one kickass character, her relationship dynamics with everyone changes, hence the possibility of a love triangle b/w Louis, Seth and her. The characters are so very, very unique in their own ways, that they always keep us guessing as to what will happen next, even if we think we know how a vampire is supposed to be behaving.I’m waiting with bated breath for the third book, since it promises to answer a lot of the questions that Alina raised. I’m just thankful for the fact that she didn’t leave me biting my nails like the last one, just needed a few tissues, is all.

By johanna Now I hardly ever read MF vampire books anymore, but seriously, this is an Alina Popescu and after The Edge of Hope, of course I had to find out what happened next. Alexa. Hesrah. Louis. Anthony. Magnus. When that first book ended, the mystery of the disappearing trueborn vampires deepened, Louis' inactions became a critical turning point, Hesrah was forced into doing something, and that confounding character mentioned but never expanded on, Philippe. My question then, as it is now: who or what is he?For those of you who never read that first book, go get it now. It is a vampire story that is truly unique and sets the basis for this second book. At this point I have to warn readers, you are going to get lost if you have not read that first one. This book opens like the next chapter.The author has this unique style of being highly visual and does not go around the bush like I do. She allows the reader to open the book, dive into the story, and come out breathless. So take a deep breath and have the time of your lives for Alexa is one newborn vamp who kicks ass like no one I've seen or read before. Not even Bella can compare to her.Alexa is highly sexual but is also all emotions. She struggles to rediscover who she really is as the old human and the newly transformed. In the first place, she is supposed to be dead. Not alive and stronger than most. She confounds Magnus and that is not saying it lightly. She is stronger than most, again confounding the other vampires. She is more gifted than most which terrifies everyone around her. She is also like a snake whose territoritoriality can mean certain death. If there ever came a point in my life where I would want to be a role play character, I am leaning hard on Alexa. She is awesome. And then there was Seth, the SEAL-looking brother of Hesrah and Magnus' assistant, he is no Renfield. He is actually quite the character impossible to ignore or not love.As the plot thickened, we finally get out answer why Louis acted immobile while Alexa was tortured in that last chapter of the first book. The answer? Philippe. ah ah ah **wavingfinger** you go read and find out who and what he is. I did. He is truly... obnoxious. As for Anthony? Alexa a awakens trapped in pain in the portal. She does finally get spit out on the other side. She feeds from a man waiting there. She finds out this is Seth Hesra’s brother. It takes her a while to get adjusted to being a vampire.When she finds out Louis is being held by Anthony and tortured she goes back to rescue him and to find Anthony for the council.This is an action packed, emotional story. It deals a lot with Alexa’s feelings. She has to adjust to feeding, her new strength, the betrayal of Louis, and her new feelings to Seth.The descriptions in this book are great. I feel like I was in Romania and the other places she went to. I could feel her deep emotional turmoil. There was a happy for now ending but enough things that it appears there could still n=be another book.If you like a strong female lead, different vampires, a well-built world, action, and some romance you will like this series. Be sure to read these in order or you won’t have a clue of what is going on here.

About the Author Chuck Abdella is a History teacher at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, MA. With degrees in History from Boston College and Columbia University, Chuck has spent many long hours in the embrace of ancient and medieval civilizations. During July, he also directs an academic enrichment camp called College Academy, where he usually saves the world at least once per summer by spearheading an adventure during the camp’s popular Time Machine Day. Studying all that history, telling stories as a teacher, and seasonal world-saving have all inspired his writing. Chuck has written poetry and prose for at least 25 years and has been published by the St. John’s Icon, the Boston College Stylus, Worcester Magazine, and the Boston Globe. He estimates he’s written at least eight novel-length manuscripts of varying levels of horribleness since he was in high school, but feels as if this novel might help to prove that the ninth time really is the charm. When he’s not spending his time reminding adolescents that the Romans were much cooler than they thought, Chuck enjoys reading, cooking, coaching youth softball, playing basketball, and watching Boston sports. My choice of books usually leans more toward mysteries, dramas, or historical sagas, but I began this fantasy book out of curiosity after it was recommended by a friend. I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and took a chance with this one. The characters are full and varied as are their motivations. A technique with many genres (anything from the Canterbury Tales to the Wizard of Oz) is to introduce the reader to unrelated characters encountered as the story unfolds, who then come together until they form a cohesive group on a mission. But as they didn’t seek each other out as new friends in the schoolyard, they have their favorites and not-so-favorites among the group. Some get along in one sphere of activity, while they grate on each other at other times. Their interaction is a great strength in this novel.The story moves swiftly and retains interest. I’ll admit to a slow start for me, but I expect that’s due to my unfamiliarity with the genre. Once I was comfortable with the races – elves, humans, wizards, morphs…, I was hooked. Will they accomplish their individual goals, meet the group goal, in fact, be able to define the group’s goal? All of this is moved along by believable dialog and lively action. New characters are encountered, befriended or vanquished, or even only felt peripherally, their impact a source of concern and vigilance.I look forward to the next book in Abdella’s series, and in the meantime I’ve bought a couple copies of The Outcasts as Christmas gifts.

Finally, some original fantasy By LP As soon as I heard that Mr. Abdella had written a novel, I rushed to acquire another example of his creativity and historical genius. I would have read a book about Latin grammar had the cover bore his name, but lucky for us, this book is far more interesting.The story centers around the quest of eight outcasts (two wizards, two morphs, two humans, and two elves) to defeat the dark force that has arisen to create strife among the four realms. The themes of love, friendship, and betrayal underlie the fellowship's adventures towards restoring harmony and returning to the Classical Age.Yet contrary to the implications of the aforementioned, this is not your typical fantasy adventure. While evil leaders give orders, their complicit armies wreak the havoc of destruction. It is the darkness in all of us that represents the greatest danger of all, and it is that darkness that threatens the realm and the fellowship's attempt to save it.One suggestion would be to include a map with your next book, and perhaps to put one on your website in the meantime. I had a bit of difficulty following the geography of the tale.Looking forward to book two.

I purchased the book to read in my "down-time" with my 8 month old daughter (funny, I know) - and I found myself WISHING that she would nap more! I'll admit, when I picked up the book for the first time and read the caption on the back - I rolled my eyes a little because it is not my typical genre. HOWEVER, I am so glad that I gave it a chance because within the first chapter it pulled me in, and kept me in until the last page. Now I'm biting my nails waiting for the next book so I can follow along with the cast to see what lies ahead of them! I would have to say - this is the mark of a seriously wonderful author - to keep me wanting more in a novel that is so far out my scope of "normal" reading! I HIGHLY suggest that you give this book a chance - you will be so glad that you did!! My applause to the author - hurry up and publish the next one, please! :)

The detail about inner healing in this book was dramatic and amazing. It helped me understand that there is a physician within. It was wonderful getting to know Gladys better through this book. Reading it made me want to be a physician. I will soon convince my peers who intend to be physician that they need to read this book. I can imagine this book changing the lives of millions. This book caught my eye.(Yes, I have spent all day reading this book) Dr. Gladys McGarey is an amazing doctor, much needed in our society today. Having been in practice for 50 years in the year this was written (1997) She let go of some of the stifling medical training that boxed her in and used some methods uncommon in medical practice today, her intuition, natural healing methods, and teaching the patients that they within themselves know what is the best choice in their medical care. She is an allopathic and homeopathic doctor, but the most important thing about her is that she believes we all have a Physician within us. We know. She has amazing stories of Cancer remissions and cures of diseases not treated the traditional way, with use of alternative principles that suit the patient. Like many doctors that have tested the establishment, she too has had her share of threats, etc. for treating people in unconventional ways (and actually making them better) Her genuine positive spirit and belief in people is amazing. She is a true healer and this book completely uplifted me. Don't miss out by not reading this book.On another note, I found out she is in practice down the street from me, if she is still practicing medicine. If I ever happen to need her guidance!

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Meandering at best By Owen Brown There are plenty of jewels in this book - the jewels of Lean Six Sigma! But if you are new to the concepts, or if you are curious about how they might apply in the greater constellation of health care, should you look elsewhere? I don't know, all I can say is that this book is so arranged that even the most attentive reader will find him or herself flipping back and forth between charts and the far off text that describes them, will find the authors contradicting themselves, or flippantly dismissing what might be important concepts by saying "this isn't a book on XXX" and then continuing, and with presenting everything in LSS as if it was of equal importance. But it is not.Now, having said the above, and here warning you not to read this tome while driving, or operating heavy machinery, there is a great breadth of material covered in this book. Because of its exhaustiveness, I give it a 3 star rating, and not lower. In particular, chapter 3 on team building was well thought out. Chapter 4 on project management was inoffensive, but 5, which purports to provide the readers with TPI, (Total Practice Improvement) is fairly deadly, and 6, where these techniques are supposedly deployed in a case study (more than one, in fact) practically sinks the boat. The problem is not only with the turgidity of text. I cannot believe that these authors paid any attention to their customer's state of mind, interest, or understanding (surprising fact that they would not) while composing this. Rather, they plowed right ahead, willynilly. The best way this book could be read would be in a group setting, so that the various statements made without either attribution, clear precedent, or consequent could be understood.Now you are forewarned. Again, there are wise statements in this book, the authors clearly have plenty of experience at their craft. But not at writing a textbook, nor writing well. A pity.
