I am in love with how all the stories fit together and the way the author backtracks to fit the puzzle pieces together. You might think you know how things are after reading the first two books, but really you have missed so much!!Getting into Trisha's story you also get more background on Ariel and Carmen. They grew up together and have a very strong bond. Trisha sheds light on other happening on the ship as well as in the palace when they land.It is fabulous that she turns out to be this totally tough chick who can hold her own in the wilds. You can feel her strength throughout the story. She has overcome so much, it breaks your heart for her, then puts it back together with her dragon mate!Kelan, like his brothers, is arrogant and clueless when it comes to Earth women. Fortunately, he is willing to learn and see the light in the end. It takes his fierce and stubborn mate to teach him!There is as always a delicious amount of steam in the stories. It is a very smexy read with action as both humans and dragons. Hold onto your panties!!The overall story flows and has plenty of movement. The plot thickens from the first book with the uncle and his treachery. There are many elements coming together and the intrigue grows even more with this book. I can not wait to see what happens to the sisters, cause there are plenty of hints here!!David Brenin is, as always, a delicious treat for my ears! He has a terrific feel for the characters and makes the story sing. I love his smexy voice, when he says all those naughty things, makes a gal blush all over! His pace is spot on and flows wit the movement of the story. He gives really good ears!!I am enamored with this whole series and eagerly await them all releasing in audio!

Finances are a topic not taught in medical school that is vitally important to physicians, with their massive medical school debts. When my wife was a hospital administrator dealing with renting hospital space to doctors for their practices, it became readily apparent to her that the physicians didn't have the financial background necessary to represent themselves during negotiations. This would put her in a curious situation representing the hospital, but also trying to look out for the physicians. Possessing the knowledge in this book could have prevented a lot of the issues she has experienced over the years.

The book that is a result of a blown mind! A few years ago me and my friend Nick were talking, I started telling him how I sold sandwiches at 13 and saved to buy my first car, how I started my first company at 21 and made millions, how I lost those millions and had to borrow rent money from mom, how I rose from the ashes and built an online empire afterwards and he was like: "Vladi, you blow my mind my friend, I haven't met anybody with a life like yours, you have to write a book or I won't be friends with you any more LOL" I was still running my offline company at that time and did not have the time to do it, but about six months ago I said: "fuck it, I'm starting the book right now, I want to tell people how to build million dollar companies no matter where they are and what situation they are in..." and there it is - "Getting Rich The New School Way" is the result. I have done a lot of stuff, have created a lot of products, have done a lot of good, have served a lot of people, but have never done anything that makes me as proud as this book. If it doesn't blow your mind I'll meet with you and let you kick me in the butt LOL. Oh, I almost forgot, I watched a movie recently and the guy said: "no matter how rich you become shit still happens. There are two things you can't escape - death and shit. This guy must have read the book, shit happens, but it doesn't matter, you get up, learn your lesson and make more money. You may read it only if you promise not to laugh!

Amazing Life Story (with many laughs and "OH MY GOD!"s along the way) By Iulian Novac Vladi wrote a fantastic book.It's not your "average" book - it's much more than that.It's about a young man with a dream who fought through everything for his wellbeing - and who seems to enjoy life no matter what.Although the "lessons" are classics, he manages to put a personal twist on them that make you explore them from a deeper point of view.If you want to laugh out loud, feel nostalgic and appreciate "the struggle" even more - read this book. You won't regret it, definitely.

Making decisions is such a regular activity that it is mostly taken for granted. However, damage or abnormality in the areas of the brain involved in decision-making can severely affect personality and the ability to manage even simple tasks. Here, Barbara Sahakian and Jamie Nicole LaBuzetta discuss the process of normal decision making - our strategies for making decisions, biases that affect us, and influential factors - and then describe the abnormal patterns found in patients with conditions such as severe depression, Alzheimer's, and accidental brain damage. Using striking examples and case studies from their own research to show the impact of abnormal decision making, they introduce the concept of 'hot' and 'cold' decision making based on the level of emotions involved, showing that in various psychiatric conditions extreme emotions alter the pattern of decision making. Looking at the ways in which the brain can be manipulated to improve cognitive function in these patients, they consider the use of 'smart drugs' that alleviate these problems. The realization that smart drugs can improve cognitive abilities in healthy people has led to growing general use, with drugs easily available via the Internet. About the Author Barbara Sahakian, University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, Department of Clinical Neuropsychology, Cambridge,Jamie Nicole LaBuzetta, University of Cambridge, Department of Psychiatry and MRC/Wellcome TrustBarbara J Sahakian is a world-renowned researcher in the fields of neurology and psychiatry, and is currently based at University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Clinical Neuropsychology. She is co-inventor of the CANTAB computerised neuropsychological tests, which are in use world-wide. She is probably best known for her research work on cognition and depression, cognitive enhancement using pharmacological treatments, neuroethics and early detection of Alzheimer's disease. She has over 300 publications covering these topics in various journals including Science, Nature Neuroscience, The Lancet, British Medical Journal, Archives of General Psychiatry, American Journal of Psychiatry, Biological Psychiatry, The Journal of Neuroscience, Brain, Psychopharmacology, and Psychological Medicine. In recognition of her contribution to cognitive neuroscience, she was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2004.Jamie Nicole LaBuzetta received her medical degree from UCSD, and is currently in the midst of her residency training at the Harvard-affiliated hospitals in Boston, USA. She is a neurology resident at the Partners program (Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women's, two of the Harvard-affiliated hospitals). As Sahakian writes the government does need to work with big pharma to conduct a long term study so that we can fully understand these drugs and what they can do to/for society. The point about surgeons improving their performance was particularly illustrative of how beneficial drugs like Modafinil could be. If only we had the long term studies! Interesting to read, written by a keen mind. It's clear why Sahakian is often asked to speak on tv & radio.

1 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Pseudoscience, and badly written. By Stefan Lenz Thisis probably the worst example of dangerous pseudoscience that I rtle ead in years. The book actually contains very little information on actual decision making under cognitive enhancement drugs. All the scientific information in the book is superficial. The main point of this book is not inform but to advocate the use of these drugs. Actually this looks much like a paid work.

The detailed imagery and fast paced style that Batt uses paints incredibly vivid scenes for the reader with characters you'll love, hate, and fear. From page one, I was drawn into both this world and the world of the "Blend." I loved the author's use of time and was intrigued by the many facets of Tryal and his band of Young Gods and now eagerly await the continued adventures of book two!

By JHerlick Young Gods is a fantastic book, full of interesting characters and surprising plot twists. There was a wide cast of characters, and I felt I got to know all of them. The settings were vivid, and the magic/fantastic elements of the book felt both real and fresh. By the end of the book, I was longing for the next installment to find out what happens next. I highly recommend the book!

Mitzelfelt I wasn't sure what I expected when I picked up this book, but what I got was a fantastic tail of teens sucked into a horrific scene that their world knows nothing about. Intense and fast paced, the story is a blend of teens coming of age, and fantastic beings from other realms. If you like a mix of strange hereditary magic and a multivariate, definitely pick up this book.

I hesitate to call this a "side-line novel", as Declan has become a primary character. Better said, it broadens the scope of the "Demon Accord" universe.This novel combines characters from many of John's past novels, and associates them with the "College Arcane", which is an attempt to combine "normal" and supernatural in an educational environment to explore the effects of recent "Forced Accent" revelations on an unsuspecting world, and perhaps find a path to move forward.This novel reminds me of earlier novels of "Chris" -- growth, painful lessons, etc. Declan has a similar personality and naivety, though he does have (a little) more experience with girls. Declan has many common college experiences, including the difficulty of maintaining a high school relationship in the broader college world. Declan also has several important steps in his "development" forced upon him, and not in good ways.We again meet "Sorrows", and are forced to consider whether the book itself is sentient, or if the book's author has somehow placed a portion of herself within the book. We contemplate "AI" (Artificial Intelligence) and its potential effects on society. I caution the author not to go the route of "past movies" -- the follow-on plot doesn't demand a true artificial intelligence, but more of a "Watchdog program" that has been around long enough to get its "hooks" in all major governmental systems, and was "triggered" by a certain meteor strike. Too easy to fall into cliche and boring, if past movies and books are merely repeated.All-in-all, a good read. John paints a detailed picture of (Declan's) college life while maintaining Declan's first-person point-of-view. We gain a great deal of understanding of Declan's "mental make-up", and insight into other characters as a reflection of Declan's observations.The action sequences are well-written, serious, but not nearly to the level of "Forced Accent", which is good -- time for things to calm down a bit as other plots unfold.Recommended...

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Good Read but needs some work By Amazon Customer College Arcane is the continuation of the Demon Accords series. It brings back Caeco, Declan, Chris, Tanya and the rest along with some character you may have forgotten. The story follows your stereotypical life of a college student with a bunch of fight or die situations. So it's basically Hogwarts/Camp Half Blood/Xavier Institute. The plot was slow at first mostly because it was Declan complaining about classes and then complaining about how he has to continue hiding his true powers while being bullied by teachers, fellow students and a class bully who is actually an Alpha Werewolf (go figure). This book loses some of its momentum with alot of words and a lack of action. No joke, 15 pages is all you need for all the action sequences in this book, and I am including the sparring parts and the parts where its not really fight and Declan and company jerking around. Finally there is no real main problem in this book, which I mean there is no major bad guy or some conflict that is coming that everyone talks about at great detail. Sure they are mentioned but it is possibly 1-2 pages then nothing, then at the last 5 chapters of the book they appear and its a kick in the face, there is no real buildup.This part is more of a SPOILERS so stop reading if you want no sucky lifeDeclan and Caeco breakup, but the author did it in a way that was not satisfactory. It was in a way how someone writes out a co-star from a movie or t.v. show saying in a not so descript way that they are no longer there. Sure I accept that their relationship was a major contrast throughout the book in that both were jealous whenever the opposite sex was involved or similar situation (Daddy issues). Sure the book revolves around Declan so Caeco was not a major character, but it was very lack luster. I accept it opens up the possibility for a Raynne relationship, even a Stacia relationship if she ever got over Chris but time will tell.Then there is the whole visiting Circle Witches thing. Declan comes face to face with the witch that basically forced his mother and aunt to run to America. Then he comes face to face with his father and half sister. One would think with all the crap he talked about them that Declan would go Rambo on them. But in reality it was a 3 second meeting then Declan leaving saying he has to be somewhere else but then they are never heard from again. So what happened?

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Outstanding By Zeus I was starting to get worried after the last book thinking Mr. Conroe might be writing himself into a corner. It seemed everything was coming together and only a book or two left. But, wow, this book was amazing! Opened everything right up. Not only did he bring in characters from his Black Frost book - the Fae and all their intrigue, he explored witches to a great degree bringing their intrigues. Further, this story stayed inside college arcane developing new characters, growing old characters, and meshing them all together. We've got the Irish witches, the Boklunds witches and several other circles involved. Getting kinda long winded here.....pretty much virtually every character ever mentioned shows up. Finally, we get introduced to a possible new villain.... :) gonna have to read it to find out. All in all I cannot give this book enough praise. I absolutely love this series. Its both emotional and kick ass at the same time. On a side note allow me to be a bit presumptuous, I would love to see some possibly short stories or even novels exploring Chris and Tania's childhood and teens years. There is tons of material mentioned particularly in the earlier books regarding Chris and Tania growing up. I think it would be fascinating to read how Chris was trained, and how his school years went or even before he was born and self-fallen. The same goes for Tania. Well, I could go on and on but will stop here. Oh, Mr. C., I believe the brother and sister are from Kentucky, not Tennessee but I could be wrong.
