By A Customer First off... if you actually find this book anywhere... *BUY IT!*Due to major printing screw ups, a very limited number were printed, making books 2 to and 4 of this series rather difficult to find.The series itself is a true space epic, a Sci Fi space opera par excellance. It blows both Star Trek and Star Wars right out of the water.In any given century there are writers who define their Genre. In our age such titles have gone to Tolkein for fantasy, King for horror, Clancy, and others. Trowbridge and Smith define the Space Opera.A DEFINATE must read for anyone who likes good galactic-empire science fiction. Start with Phoenix in Flight, and slog yourself through the first 150 pages (which are SLOW), until the action truly starts... then enjoy!You can also talk with the authors at their Exordium fan forum on Yahoo.
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic Space Opera By Brian Rowe The Exordium series of 5 books are some of the most entertaining space opera novels I have ever read. The authors take on culture, and how it can be manipulated in the context of a star spanning civilization is interesting. The "alien-ness" of his aliens (in the case of one species, The Kelly, who exists in triples and who only came to understand humans after watching ancient recordings of the Three Stooges) adds to the depth and texture of the story. I wish the story continued beyond these 5 books!

Combines great action & adventure with philosophical depth By Ruth Brady This is the fourth book in an incredible series which the authors have re-written and made available digitally. The original print version is almost impossible to find.The world-building in this epic space opera is compelling and credible, the characters are complex and the writing style is nuanced and engaging.It's hard to believe that this series isn't better known. It deserves to be up there among the best world class sci-fi.It reminds me of the series Firefly but it goes far beyond that in depth and inventiveness.Simply put, this is a must-read. Start with Book 1 of the series - The Phoenix in Flight.
