6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Okay, but sometimes confused. By J.M. Brown I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I don't expect to continue reading this series. It's not that the writing was bad, but that I just was not engaged by the story or the characters. Several voices (7) were employed, and the reader had to work to remember who was what and where, as there were so many to follow. There were no headings to indicate time or place, just the speaker's name. I found three characters to be mostly sympathetic, another went from sympathetic to unlikable, and others were hard to even care about. I kept going, hoping to make a, connection, but was not satisfied. I even read the excerpt from the second book, which began in the voice of yet another character...enough already! On to greener pastures.

I enjoyed this book for the most part but it jumps around from person to person leaving the plot sum what in disarray . I'm not sure if I received a incomplete copy but it stops suddenly at the finding of the new Duke in a pawnshop. If that's truly the cliffhanger ending its horrible!!

I wasn't into the story deeply due to the changing of the characters telling the story and the rather stilted language. I received the book free in return for an honest review.
