If you took Lord of the Rings, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Alice in Wonderland and the Bhagavad Gita and put them in a blender, the odds are that you would not end up with this book. But perhaps something like it.Part fantasy, part surreal comedy, and part spiritual coming of age adventure, Real Dragons is a story related by an alien to an Earth child as they travel to our planet. He tells her of his first mission here in the fourteenth century when he was sent by his master to find the last seed of the microvita tree, whose mysterious power had the potential to transform our world. The microvita tree was destroyed in the sinking of Atlantis long ago, and only an evil necromancer and Joe, the last dragon from Atlantis, know how to find it. One problem. The dragon eats people.

From the Inside Flap Long ago a great master from another world appeared on our planet and planted a magical tree on the island of Atlantis, the microvita tree. The subtle microvita energy from the tree gave the Atlanteans special powers of mind, raising them above other peoples, enabling the birth of a great empire. But the true value of the tree lay in its hidden promise. When it blossoms, after hundreds of years, it releases a flood of spiritual energy that will transform the planet, ushering in a golden age of enlightened consciousness. However, as the tree grew, an evil necromancer, Nefarious, began to manipulate the mysterious microvita energy for his own dark purposes. Using its power he bred new species, ultimately spawning the great and terrible dragons, the ultimate weapon of war, thus setting the idyllic kingdom on the path to its own destruction. Our story opens thousands of years later, in a time when the age of Atlantis is a near forgotten dream, and civilization has stagnated, mired in ignorance and conflict. But not all have forgotten the promise of the microvita tree. Far away on his home planet, the master still lives, and turns his attention to the suffering of a world in need, sending an emissary on a secret mission to re-awaken the power of positive microvita on the earth.

This book teaches us about humanity in its simplest form, which reminds us of the complexity and Divinity that exists within each one of us!
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. pleasantly surprised By Andrew Rawlings Fantasy, ugh! or so I thought until I was introduced to the "mayor of Not Enough Hugs Valley" and "lured by the sweet water that tinkled and whispered as if it would never run out of gossip." With his strong command of the language Dada captured my attention and has given me much to think about. If you are looking for a book to spend some time with, check this out. I am now watching for the next installment and the next. Watch out! JK Rowling ' a reader '

Much of it is very funny, with a joke in every sentence. Then suddenly the jokes stop and the narration describes a beautiful nature scene or a spiritual experience with words that touch the divine. The laughter and the beauty won me completely. What a joy. Waiting for the next volume!
