6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Deadend with Yet another Cliffhanger. Waste of money X 7 "books". And It never ends. By Sarah I have spent over $35 chasing down this story. Book 7 Time Slip had the worst ending of them all with no ending. In the last 5 pages all this happens, overthrowing 8 books and there is no ending. It is Crazy. We are left with Jayne, heroine, standing in the council in the middle of the night with everyone in their PJs. Jayne announces there is a war going on in the Overworld/Heaven. She says she is married to a dragon. We just found her other marriage to Ben for 7 books was a sham, she had another lover, and now she has a dragon mate? and the book ends! What?No more explanation, it is a dead end. The author doesn't even pretend to have an ending any more. Save your money.This series did help me get through a bad flu so I spent the money. Don't waste your money unless you have a flu and are in a desperate place. Because this "series" never ends.

I really enjoyed each book By S. kronberger Grrrrr...what can I say about this series, as you can see I made it to book 8 which means I paid for 7 of them. But I'm asking myself why? The series itself was really good. I really enjoyed each book, my frustration stems from the fact that it should not be 8 books, it really wasn't worth spending the money for each book. This is one of those situations when the author should have probably only written 3 books but wanted more money (which she did achieve from me) so wrote 8 instead and the series isn't yet complete. The books were to short for the price asked. If they had each only be $.99 it would have been fine but $4.99 per book is overpriced for this series. So I guess I'm mad at myself that I got suckered in to paying so much for a series that should have cast half the amount.This would be a 4-5 star series if the author condensed 9 novels into 3 at the $4.99 price

By BigBangBookGeek I am a huge fan of the "War of the Fae" series, so when Elle Casey dropped the news that she was going to write new books featuring these great characters, I couldn't wait to read them!"Time Slipping" is the first of these new additions to the series, and it doesn't disappoint! Jayne and the other changelings from Miami are at it again!I hate reviews that include spoilers, so I won't write much about specifics, but the author has such a creative flair that by the end of the book my adrenaline was pumping as much as Jayne's!Although a couple of new characters are introduced, "Time Slipping" centers mostly on the group from Miami in a new situation that I think was a brilliant move by the author. Prior to reading this book I re-read the entire series, and "Time Slipping" pretty much picks up where the previous book, "Portal Guardians" ends, with Jayne preparing to spend time with Biad the dragon, who is the new portal guardian to the Underworld. As usual with any of Jayne's new undertakings things don't work out quite as planned.The author's creative genius never ceases to amaze me. She writes with such a flair for building on her characters' interactions with one another that as soon as you think you know everything there is to know about the relationships between characters, there is always something new and different going on that surprises the reader. Casey also has a flair for dialogue, particularly Jayne's talent for coming up with new ways to use every dirty word you thought had already been used in every possible way imaginable! So, if you are easily offended by a little "colorful" language, consider yourself forewarned!The last few chapters of "Time Slipping" are heart stopping and really got my adrenaline pumping! And, just as you think you have everything figured out, watch out for a huge plot twist! Finally, as with all of the other books in "The War of the Fae", series, and with what has become something of a signature of this author, "Time Slipping" ends with a huge cliffhanger, which only leaves the reader wanting more.I cannot wait for the next book!

By cc2015 As other reviewers have said, this is a great time saver and a great book to pick up if you want to know the information in The Compound Effect but lack the time to read through the original book. Eureka Books basically breaks everything down for you into key concepts that you MUST know (titled "key takeaways"), which are accompanied by analyses that will get you thinking as well. I highly recommend these books by Eureka Books as they are tremendously helpful!

It can occur within the short term severity of a tooth ache, during the ongoing onslaught of long term illness such as cancer or the unexpected highway accident. Anywhere or anyplace physiological or mental pain can enter us. Pain is an inevitability of life. What do we do when it comes? How do we deal with pain when it won’t go away? Dr. Aarons tells us that pain is not a subject that we talk about. However, in the book she has written she has chosen to break the silence through her own studies and the personal experiences of many people who have lived through pain. She includes her own experiences as well. She walks us through the process and the subject brings us closer, not only to the reality of all that pain brings, but what can help those of us who live with it. Dr. Aarons' discussion of rising above pain shines a bright light on enjoying life by managing pain.As a person who lives with chronic pain, this book broadened my knowledge of the domain of pain. The book is very readable and the examples clear. Dr. Aarons discusses "Rising above" one's pain and I think of myself as "living" with pain. But some storytelling would have been nice. Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman, a hefty version is the heroine here, who earns $5-$10K tips from each trick, lives in a gangland slum apartment and takes the bus everywhere because she is so poor. What exactly is she doing with those hooker tips, drugs?? Poor thing has to waitress at an eight table diner just to make ends meet. Again, drugs? She gets the guy and he tells her to quit the hooker service, so either he is giving her 5 or 10K a night ... or she is really poor now plus going cold turkey on that drug habit. We hear nothing about this. There is no discussion between these two about anything. Considering she was going to be doing a lesbian combo threesome with the hero when they met, apparently monogamous vanilla sex is all they will be having.Yeah, this just didn't deliver.

This is only a means to an end for her until she can get out.When Angela is sent to Philip's for the evening with another girl Jessie she was told they would probably be just putting on a show with each other as he rarely participates, but once they walked into the suite the night changed entirely. Once Angela and Philip's eyes met he knew she was his mate. He also knew any touching with anyone else was disgusting to him. He sent both of them home, but not until he got Angela's phone number and told her she would see him again. Soon!!!Soon to Phillip meant the next morning at the diner where Angela waited tables, and he couldn't wait to ask her out to diner - which she promptly turned him down for. He was not discouraged as he knew she wanted him too - But how many times did it take? That is the question!?!!?!??! And how did he convince her??? You have to see how the first date went!!!Read this once to see how the third romance came to be - and what obstacles were in his path to happily ever after!!!

By SFF Dragon Bear Down is the third book in the 'A Billionaire Shifter Romance' series by Terra Wolf and Alanna Blacke. This is the first book I have read by either of these authors and I was given this copy by one of the authors in exchange for an honest review.This book isn't long, and when I started reading it, I was grateful for that. It was really not my kind of thing at all, but it did improve. Billionaire Philip Macklin, a lonely and drunk were-bear is in town to celebrate the birth of his friends' baby, and has slipped into a debauched hole, employing women from an agency. two at a time to perform sexual acts with each other either with/or in front of him. He gets bored and tells them to leave, then gets the agency to send two more the following night. His luck is in when one of two sent, Angela Harmony, who was left stranded and penniless in a strange city by her ex-boyfriend and works days as a waitress, turns out to be his mate. He sends them away almost as soon as they arrive, cleans himself up and sets out to woo Angela.From that point on, the book became much better and I enjoyed the rest of this paranormal romance, but I almost stopped reading on the first page. After a couple of unfriendly run-ins with unpleasant neighbours, they get their HEA. I might read the others in this series, but I'll get a sample first to ensure I'm not going to have to read through another beginning like this one to get to the part of the book that was worth reading.

Mated by the Dragon is the second book in the amazing Loved By the Dragons Series by Vivienne Savage. After reading Saved by the Dragon, the first book in this exciting series, I was totally hooked. I eagerly awaited this release. This series is my first time reading Ms Savage's work and I must say, I'm definitely impressed. The story is thrilling, imaginative, humorous, sweet, romantic and arousing. The dialogue is exceptionally well written and well edited. The characters are fascinating, captivating, engaging and sexy as sin. And who doesn't love sexy dragons, right? The second book picks up immediately from the end of Book One so we already know that Chloe Ellis met and fell in love with dragon Saul Dragonstone while away for a weekend rock climbing. Chloe has decided to leave her home in Texas and move in with Saul in his opulent home just outside Los Angeles. Once Chloe got rid of her ex-boyfriend, she thought it would be smooth sailing for her and her new love. He asks the band members how their five part harmony originated, and from there we are taken on a mystical, magical journey explaining how they came to be.Along the way we are introduced to many lands of both good and evil characters. The ending supplies us with a satisfying response to the original question. This book is well written and flows nicely from present to past and back again throughout the chapters. Kudos to Kargenian !

The story is very enjoyable and keeps the reader interested chapter after chapter. Great for younger reader, probably ages 10 and up. The story is fictional but you can definitely tell that there is some parallels and nods to events and things in the present age. The book flows very nicely, the chapters are not too long and not too short, and the story line keeps you involved. Explains the Missing link from Magic to Music!! Definitely looking forward to the sequel!

By Caitlin (Kait) It's just like seeing old friends again when I get to read one of Rain Oxford's series' new books. As everyone comes back into play - Mordon, Dylan, Ron, Divina, etc. - I find myself smiling and ready to hear about how they have been doing since I last "spied" on them through the author's writings. And for a family gal like me, I was especially pleased to find that, on top of seeing things through different family member's eyes, the kids we have been previously introduced to have grown up enough that we can also get their points of view on things and see how much they have grown and learned! :) And it was a surprising amount; Dylan won't have to worry about his or his wife's legacy...On a more serious note, as you may have gathered from the title, this book had basis more grounded in the "human" (i.e. two legged) side of things than it did in a couple of former books in the series that involved more creatures. Demons, demi-gods, guardians, and now a witch hunter?? The author did a fantastic job at getting the readers' attention with the hunter from the first mention of him, slowly answering the questions about him as the story progressed...I have to say, he was not what I expected. Nor did I expect to see a new love blossoming between a new couple in the story, either! It was really charming to "watch" it happen, and to get some new perspectives on the way things unfolded in the worlds.Speaking of which, I am always impressed when I return to this series that Rain keeps consistent track of names, places, and relationships when there is so much to keep up with! The mark of a good author. I look forward to seeing her future publications. :)

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. ~~ Rules cannot be set in stone where medicine is concerned ~~ By Richard and Liz The original book by Siddhartha Mukherjee is an outline of the "guiding rules that govern medicine" based on the author's experience in the medical field. "Medicine is a soft science with guiding rules rather than hard and fast laws". In this Instaread summary (think DETAILED and interesting review) you may be surprised to read the name Hermione Granger, a character in the Harry Potter series listed as one of the important people in this book! Johannes Kepler, a German mathematician from the 16th century is also mentioned.There are 6 Key Takeaways stated and discussed in this summary. Here are a couple to whet your appetite:>> #2 - "Modern medicine only dates back to the 1940's. Before them, the choices were amputations, and the "three P's - placebo, palliation, and plumbing." Medicine as more art than science By Ivy Reisner This book does a great job summarizing the original work, while bringing in some outside data (such as an article pertaining to how bias affects drug trials) all of which are cited in the back for further reading. In the main, the point being explored is that in some ways medicine is as much art as science. The points it explores are:1- Doctors often work with limited information.2- Modern medicine was born in the 1940s, with the advent of observation and categorization of disease.3- Intuition and observation trump tests that can vary in their accuracy. I found this the most interesting section of the analysis as it goes into specifics on fail cases.4- Bayes' theorem states all knowledge is conditional.5- Edge cases prove especially useful for research.6- Bias, self-selection in study groups, and unavoidable secondary selection criteria impacts the validity of medical studies, and must be accounted for.I would have liked a little more detail. This one was good, but felt slightly more rushed than most of the Instareads titles. I'm not certain I agree with all of the points made. I would argue computer science is younger than medical science in opposition to the book's claims, and that the 1940s seems late for the birth of medicine as, for example, Edward Jenner was working on inoculations in the 17th and 18th centuries, but those are points I would dispute with the original source. This digest reports them faithfully and that is the task of a digest.I was given a sample in exchange for review.

Ray If you’ve ever paid close attention during your sessions with your doctor, you already know that much of what medical professionals do is based upon informed guesswork and intuition. Key Takeaways, Analysis & Review of Siddhartha Mukerjee’s The Laws of Medicine by Instaread summarizes an excellent book about the soft science of medicine, based on the author’s long experience as a doctor.The key takeaway from this book, clearly highlighted in this review, is that knowledge is not absolute, but conditional, and that medicine is not a science based upon hard and fast rules, but one that is shaped by commonsense guidelines based upon experience. After reading this review, you’re likely to be a bit uncomfortable the next time you get advice from your doctor, but even that is conditional knowledge that must be validated by experience.Whether the review makes you want to invest in the book itself is beside the point. The insight you’ll gain from this summary is well worth the 15 minutes it’ll take you to read it.

As the world changes and younger customers move to video versus text all of us have to start thinking about all of the channels available. This book will get you started.

By Lisa Bresnahan This book is packed full of examples, questions, and “how tos” for both leaders and teams to build stronger and more effective skill sets that will help improve individual , team, and organization performance. I loved the stories shared from many different types of organizations, and how they all achieved high levels of improvement and success within their organizations and business sectors – INSPIRING! The key points and questions at the end of each chapter were extremely helpful to me in both summarizing this powerful content, and also in sharing with my team as we are reading the book as part of our monthly department book club. I have had many AHA moments myself when reading and applying these achievable characteristics, and am excited to see the difference it is already making in our organization’s culture. This is a book that is not meant to be kept on the bookshelf, but kept close by and referenced often by anyone who wants to develop a more collaborative and effective team, as well as improving and sustaining their own skills and results!
