5 stars: “I absolutely loved this book! The author has a writing style that kept me hooked from the first word until the last. I loved the story and he did an amazing job telling it. And that ending! I'll only say that I did not see it coming and I can't wait for the next one! Read this book! Kallias does not disappoint.” - Van Warren Synopsis: When the evil Obsidian Empire delivers a deathblow against the Star Alliance, fighter pilot Lieutenant Chase Athanatos leads a band of scattered survivors to the farthest reaches of the known universe, to a little planet called Earth. But Earth is in trouble. The Obsidian Empire is hot on their trail, and unless they find a way to stop them, what’s left of the Alliance and the entire planet are doomed to extinction. With the help of the beautiful Commander Sarah Kepler and under the guidance of the goddess of love Aphroditis, Chase races against time to find a way to save the planet from total annihilation. Unbeknownst to him, something dormant is coursing through Chase's blood. But does it hold the key to changing their destiny ? --- What to expect: Epic space battles, dogfights, large fleet battles, alien first contact, alien invasion, galactic empires, alien worlds, action, adventure, mythology, supernatural powers, friendship, survival, suspense and romance. --- Author's sources of inspiration: Science fiction in general as well as an inexplicable attraction towards the stars. Scifi and Space Opera books, movies and series like Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Stargate, Farscape and many more. --- Reviews of Earth - Last Sanctuary: 4 stars: “Earth Last Sanctuary can pass off as a classic of the space opera genre with battleships wars and military space strategy - not my cup of sci fi tea and still it kept me hooked till the very end....I've actually read the last 10% bit holding my breath and the ending delivered a fine suckerpunch.” - Miliana Chipaila 5 stars: “FINALLY... one that wasn't completely predictable.... About time something a bit more refreshing.” - Keith Ramsey "Kotawolf" 4 stars: "I think that the author accomplished a great deal of work by establishing a powerful baseline for a great continuation. Will the next book reveal omnia vinxit amor?" -Kindle customer 5 stars: "I really enjoyed the characters and storyline in this fun space opera. I like the way earth is portrayed and the trouble the other humans have with our unsustainable attitudes. Can't wait for the next book." - Ptahnyx 5 stars: "This was a very entertaining read, and my five stars are based on enjoyment. There is plenty of action and space battles, some twists that are a little different than a lot of space opera, and overall I think it's the start of a great new space opera series. I read tons of SF, and while some is too technical and some is too slow, this one seemed to be just right (for my taste). While I generally don't like cliffhanger endings, the book was so good I can hardly wait for the next one." -Kay McNeely "Kaybooks" 5 stars: "I loved it. I want to read the next one . Every one must read it. Read read read it" -Jaime 5 stars: "I enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to reading more! At the end I did not expect the surprise waiting there. It left me wanting more! I can't wait!!!" -Eltonette 5 stars: "Very exciting. This book was not short of action and was not spoiled by unnecessary descriptions of bedroom activity. A simple love interest fit quite well. The one negative comment I have is that the book was not long enough." -Levi 5 stars: "A great read. And shaping up to be strong series. Maybe a bit weak on the teck side, But the story is gear more towards the people side which pulls the story forwards." -Kindle customer

Good start for the author By Ian Brown I have given this book 4 stars partly being generous because it is the authors first complete book and I reckon he has done a great job for his first one, also because it is well edited/proofed. I read a lot of amazon/kindle books and many books are really let down by many distracting grammar and spelling errors that really should be more obvious and so thank you for a good job. Also, thank you for the table of contents, many basic books forget that and I find it really useful when I like to jump back and re-read a chapter, well done thereYes, it is Space Opera and many things are treated lightly, however, the one thing that "jarred" with me was the whole wrap up of changing Earth's economy with Aphroditis (which I assume somehow might be Aphrodite??) giving red portals for the ppl that still like money, wiping their memory, sending them to another planet and transforming them into different beings compatible with their new home. I am like WTF!!!! but she will not help fight the "baddies"??? That was a bit freaky but I guess solved the whole issue and avoided any in depth detailed discussion on economies etc and did the job in about 2-3 pages, lol.I think having a compatible language also was a mistake, saying the Alliance (lol, Rebel Alliance??) has the language Universium and it is 90% compatible with English was a mistake, better to throw in the Universal Translators/Implants/ advanced learning that would be more credible for me than somehow having the method used in the book of such a close common language. After all we do get a brief glimpse at many different life forms at a space station with their own languages so it would make sense to me to have some sort of Universal Translators, that is my thought.I like the idea of Chase being half human(?) half fury as that helps to account for his sudden tactical brilliance going from a dedicated "top gun" isolated type of pilot to up with the "shakers and movers" planning and executing the strategies and also amazing fighter pilot skills.Lots of good action with space fighter battles and big battles which are good fun but we only see Daniel and Chase, no other fighter pilots get mentioned that I noticed, they all seem to end up dead, I got the impression that Chase lead a small "wing" of fighters but it just is never mentioned again. The main characters seem to be Captain of Destiny, the Chief Engineer, Daniel and Chase with Sarah added, thebaddies are the Emperor and the "Dark force" person all hooded and cloaked. I think I really need more characters especially some pilots too as they seem very anonymous to meSpoiler Alert!!!!!My final beef is the cliffhanger, I hate them, as then you often wait months or even years for the next book and I personally don't like it and find it annoying. Sure, I was not expecting the war to just be over and just won easily but was more inclined to say having Sarah captured (even though this was strongly hinted at by the Droxian earlier in the book) and the whole thing with Chase's evil dark, hooded brother/halfbrother?? with powers like Darth Vader (Unlike Darth he does not remotely strangle them using the Force, Chase's brother explodes their bodies) is starting to really drift into a Star Wars scenario (which again was hinted at with Chase and Sarah watching the movies) and really needs to get away from that. Dump the dark cloak and hood now as we know he looks exactly like Chase so is not the disfigured/scarred Vader so that is good.Take care and will get the next book to see how it develops

A Cliff Hanging Ending By Arly W Eggertsen If you do not like being left with a cliff hanging ending and waiting for a follow-up book, then is book is not you. I am one who does not like cliff hanger endings to books. There a premises in the book that just do not make sense no matter how much imagination that you use. In the book, there is a universal galactic language that parallels English such that the inhabitants of Earth can speak to "alien" humans without any real problems. However, there no basis in the book on how this parallel development came about or could possibly exist. In developing the story line and flow of action, the author at times takes a long winding road to get from point A to point B. Perhaps I am being overly hard on the book having read it immediately following reading the best book in this genre I have read in the past year.

The only thing that bother me, is that the ranks used on the "fleet" are the ranks of the Army. You get for example a General on command of the Fleet and not a Admiral, and that's bother me a lite.Other thing that bother me is the use of Torpedos like they where missiles and later the use of missiles and not Torpedos, I think you need to have this better defined.I think that the books on the series are going to improve, but this one need some editing on the terminologies on my opinion. Is this going to prevent that I read other books of this serie and this author? No.
