By Karen Huard I wish I could give it more stars personally for what the first version did for me and this one will be in my library once Amazon starts shipping them!! I am too cognitively impaired to type much right now but want people to understand that Katina's story is easy enough to read (even with SEVERE Neurological issues -for me at least) and provides such an inspiring recovery from the depths of hell that THOUSANDS of us are suffering from. I am infected with at least Lyme and Bartonella (A co-infection) and so is my 28 year old daughter and her son (my beautiful grandson) is autistic and likely infected (testing to come soon). 3 generations INFECTED and ALL family members are AFFECTED by our illness (having to take care of us). This is a huge political issue and the CDC (AGAIN) has created such an epidemic and suffering in our nation that one day I believe some of them will be prosecuted for their crimes against us (I pray for it). NO PERSON (especially in power for the people) should put personal gain (SO MUCH MONEY THESE PEOPLE are living high on the hog _-- US being the hog) before the health of those they are supposed to be protecting.I URGE people to get involved. In fact, putting your money to work for you early is like having a second income. The sooner you realize this simple truth, the better you will be. I learned many money lessons the hard way. Some of the knowledge contained in this book was acquired literally through sweat and tears (as shown in my other book, Rat Race Millionaire). Hopefully, you can take a shortcut by reading this book and gain enough knowledge to start your snowball of wealth rolling.   Happy financial journey!

About the Author Michael Hung is an office worker millionaire, who is passionate about financial literacy. He has been investing since the mid-1990s. He successfully navigated both the Dot-com Bust and the Financial Meltdown with his investments continuing to grow despite economic turbulence. He immigrated to the U.S. when he was 16 and barely spoke any English. After completing his formal education, he started working at a Fortune 100 company before he was laid-off in 2009 during the Great Recession. After four years of unemployment and underemployment, he was back in the rat race. He became a millionaire in the summer of 2014 before he turned 40. Rat Race Millionaire is his first book sharing his eventful journey to financial security and how he encountered and overcame many major setbacks. Chan As advertised, The Rat Race Millionaire Pocket Handbook is a brief and easy-to-read book about basic financial knowledge. In fact, you can probably read this book in one or two days. Without this handy little book, I would have to get a few thick reference books and have years of investment experience to distill the valuable information that is included in this easy-to-digest capsule. It provides useful information about different key financial concepts, terminologies, account types, and asset types. They are all explained in a format and language that is easily understood. I wish there were more CliffsNotes versions of financial books like what Michael Hung (the author) has created here.If you want a more in-depth look into the mindset of an actual rat race millionaire, Hung’s other book, Rat Race Millionaire, is the one to read. While the Pocket Handbook provides the knowledge, Rat Race Millionaire gives readers the motivation and cause to become financially secure. I recommend both books for any employee who wants to achieve more in their own personal finances.

Comprehensive Plastic Surgery Text By Amazon Customer This text has a stellar cast of international authorities in Plastic Surgery; Wayne Morrison, Bryan Mendelson, Philip Blondeel, Tim Marten, Bahman Guyuron, Francois Firmin, Robert Flowers, Susan Mackinnon, Elizabeth Hall-Findlay, Foo Chan Wei, Paul Smith, Stefan Hofer, Brian Sommerlad and many more.It has an excellent reconstructive and aesthetic section. I have been using Grab and Smith and this book is far more comprehensive. I would argue it is the most in depth single volume textbook. As a plastics registrar I find this book extremely easy to read and finding the subject field of interest is a breeze.The schematics and figures are very helpful and mostly, this book might be all you need to pass your fellowship. Extremely happy with this purchase.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Excellent book, wish there could be sequels By FrancisT Sadly there won't be any sequels because the author is no longer with us. Fortunately, however, this book works well as a standalone so while there are some loose ends to tidy up there is a good sense of closure at the end.This book has a good plot and characters that you can relate to. The world building is interesting. It seems to be almost your standard high fantasy with magic existing along with non human races like orks and elves though there are twists there. But then it also has renaissance to 30 year ware level technology including primitive firearms. In a bunch of ways this is sort of where Elizabeth Moon's Paksenarrion books might get to in a few hundred years, although in this world orks and dark elves are not exactly evil.The characters are well developed and, again, reminiscent of Paksenarrion as indeed is the setting of a mercenary company but this is by no means a copy of Ms Moon's work. The theology in this is totally different as are the geopolitics. They are however entirely consistent and believable. Indeed it is clear that the author based a lot of his situations and battles on real historical events and this shows.All in all an excellent read

By mahoneko This novel is fast paced, I mean really fast paced, if you love long flowery descriptions this novel is not for you. If however you love super fast paced, yet epic story telling with fluid prose and just the right amount of tight description to clarify the world, alongside smooth action sequences, then keep reading, this might be for you. I really got behind the main character within the first few pages and just had to keep turning the pages to see if she was going to make it, though just what making it would mean for her, I wasn't sure until near the end. The ending was satisfying, though was not predictable, it was plausible though. I was really impressed with the depth of the characters, both the protagonist and the supporting cast. The author really knows his military history and it showed in the description of battles which were head and shoulders above other books of this type.

From the Author I had a lot of fun writing this book. I was in Cape San Blas, FL when I started this first book. That was two years ago. Now I am almost completed with Book 2 of this saga and I love it.  I have written a total of four books over the past eight years. Two of which have been published and two that are in the process. I have written several poems and plan to publish a collage of them in the next few years.  I have a true passion for writing and hope to one day be able to write full time and continue creating entire worlds for readers to explore.

I read the book in three sittings. Once I got into it, the story was hard to put down. So, yes, a page turner. Excellent character development. Holland takes time to let us get to know his people while weaving in action and adventure and fantasy that make the tale interesting. I wish the author would not have apologized about editing up front. The story shows his passion. If it's not typo police perfect then do be it. As an author I know that having a clean manuscript is a challenge.

The Tempest series starts with rich characters, plot twists and turns, and will make you beg for more. One may find himself/herself identifying with a character from this series as you begin to play the story out in your head. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Book One and cannot wait for more!!!

However, I've been disappointed by the quality of some of the entries. I expected the calendar to be very polished, like a miniature picture book, but many of the entries look as if they were pulled off of a Google image search for "Dog shaming". Some entries are hilarious, other are just "okay".

Tuesday Jan 26: epic infamous existential crisis By Sarah M Miller The dogs are great, but January 26 is labeled as a Thursday instead of a Tuesday, so I fell into a downward spiral where I questioned my existence and my place in this world. However, once I realized the rest of the days seem to be accurately labeled, my anxiety returned to its normal level of only slightly out of control. @billys

However the stand is bad, it constantly collapses and the weight of the paper, because there are so many pages, is too much for it and it is tearing away from the stand. Kind of disappointed.

A brilliant and informative novel By Roger Ramjet This was a well written novel about David's venture in a beautiful yet potentially treacherous country. I couldn't put the book down until I finished it and I enjoyed the writing style. It achieved the perfect blend between not too lengthy and not too short and the plot was gripping and riveting. I also really liked the points and tips about psychology that it included as that is a strong area of interest of mine. The entertainment value, the fact that this was a non fiction book with tips tied into the reality that we all live in urges me to give this a full five stars and strongly recommend it be read by others.

I've been looking for this book since Night Angel came out By Ho-Sheng Hsiao I've been looking for this book for a while.It's very rare to find an author that gets magic and martial arts together right. The last one I've read was Brent Week's Night Angel Trilogy, and the first chapter of the Traveler's Gate trilogy reminds me much of the Way of Shadows. However, a just because the first chapter reminds me of an awesome series doesn't mean it will carry through.Fortunately, I was not disappointed. Although the book doesn't quite punch at the epic levels of the Night Angel, it's close enough. There was also a great insight at the end that I've found useful.Like Night Angel, the Traveler's Gate isn't exactly a heroic or anti-heroic book. I'm glad it doesn't stop at simplistic morals. The author also clearly expresses the limits of virtues, which makes that ending battle even more epic, as it is rooted in real wisdom.I'm looking forward to reading more work from the author.

Close the gate By Andy Wood Having read the Elder Empire series by the same author, thought to read the Travelers gate, kindle had all three at what seems a reasonable price. Turns out, it was over priced.This is not the Elder empire by any means. It is a sprawling story, that covers various worlds. It is hard to figure out why everyone is fighting, and what all the politics means. It gets more convoluted, and early on, this reader stopped caring. Found myself scanning numerous pages, especially some of the fights, the outcome being no surprise.The world is made up of various territories or dimensions, each with its own peculiar slant. Travelers can hop in an out of some, but not others. They do this by creating a sort of inter dimensional portal. This is often done by rending the air with a magical sword.There are many good ideas here, a lot of originality, the dolls, the swords, the monsters etc.our heroes territory, a home for warriors, is basically a video game, conquer one level, get a power, move on, get another one.Our hero develops many powers and uses them to the point of bursting,in multiple altercations. His friend, and or opposite number, seems to get a whole world of powers simply by showing up. He walks through colored doors and bingo, has a new side to his character, this whole plot line was weak, and garbled. There are several female characters, two leading ones are extremely smug, fairly two dimensional, and many times annoying.The most annoying thing was the number of times an apparently deadly blow was turned in the nick of time, a piece of ice, magic crystal, last gasp of super speed, again and again, lives spared by luck and happenstanceThe elder empire is a much more polished work, equally original, and with characters that you can care about. The females are particularly interesting, ( the incomparable Bliss, comes to mind).Read the Traveler' gate series, the Elder Empire if you are interested in seeing how a writer develops his craft. No great loss if you skip it and go straight to Elder Empire

The characters are diverse and have their own goals/motivations/weaknesses.Structure: Generally told from the perspective of the three main characters. I particularly enjoyed any chapter from Simon (the de facto, unwilling protagonist.) There are many frequent cliff-hanger chapter-endings, especially in City of Light. This was mildly frustrating, but never interrupted from my immersion or enjoyment.World-building: Exceptional in House of Blades and a major plus to the series as a whole. The physics and magic of the world is unique, occasionally bizarre, and extremely interesting. The author literally threw in everything exciting he could think of when starting this novel and it works together surprisingly well. One caveat would be that there are too many Territories to give each their proper due and development within the series. The ones that are visited specifically are very well-fleshed out; the others, less so. There are supporting novels that flesh these out in greater detail, I just haven't read them yet.Character development: Quite good. None of the characters are the same at the end of the tale. Alin, Leah, and Simon go through many trials and tribulations and come out the other end as mature versions of themselves. This isn't a "coming-of-age" story, but is one where a significant amount of growth is achieved.Writing Style: The prose is fairly exceptional for a first-time author. There aren't many "Highlight to tell my kids" passages, but neither are there "Well that's just silly" moments that would detract from the story. The action scenes in particular are a major strength of the author. There is a palpable sense of urgency to most combat. The story overall moves a very good clip.Editing/Grammar: For a self-published work, I found very few grammatical issues, and this may have been cleaned up further with the release of this omnibus. There were certainly a few passages that may have benefited from some re-writing/revising, but the finished product is pretty darn good as-is.Target Audience: This books falls into Advanced Young Adult. There is some significant action/violence but no gratuitous sex or language to worry about....so why 4 stars instead of a solid 5? I did not particularly enjoy Leah's chapters. I liked her a side character, but found her tedious as a POV one. I slogged through her chapters to get back to Simon and Alin. I also thought the mystique of the magic system was lost from the beginning of the series to the end. Simon is the initial tie to the "regular people," but no one comes to replace him after he becomes more powerful. This creates a loss of scale in the world. I 'know' that Travelors are rare and powerful, but when everyone in the book is one, the mystique fades.Final Thoughts: I was really surprised by how good these books were. These books definitely scratched my itch for a fun, fast-paced, fantasy adventure. I am already really enjoying the author's next series as well. I hate the cover to this omnibus. The writing and story is great inside, DON'T JUDGE THIS BOOK BY THIS COVER.

69 of 75 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful Sequel! By Brett I loved the story from the first book, but I struggled with the writing style and character development. This sequel expands the original story, ties up some loose ends, and the best surprise for me was how much better the character development was. The book can get fairly technical sometimes, but I like that kind of science fiction. Some of the tangents can get annoying, and the extent of the fantastical twists gets fairly complex. Ultimately, I was able to follow along enough to really dig the technical stuff and care about the characters. The story touches on so many facets of the human experience: science, religion, history, evolution, biology, physics, good vs. evil. I highly recommend reading the first book, and jumping right into this one.Just like the first one, I borrowed the book from the Kindle Lending library, and then decided to support the author and buy a copy after the fact. Great stuff, keep it coming!

The follow-up second book is just as good - perhaps even better than the first. Well developed characters, stunning plot twists, history, genetics, science fiction - its all here. Believe me, you won't be able to put it down.

Super story telling By Ellie Rose I read this and After Days (The After Days Trilogy) by Scott Medbury, one after the other in three nights, they are both so good its amazing. If you love fast paced writing and unputdownable stories i give both a huge thumbs up...Atlantis Plague is a great follow up to the Gene and Mr Riddle keeps the action coming. It really was unputdownable and I so hope they decide to make the whole series into a movie or a HBO series. Don't miss it!

The story continues as the weaknesses of this particular subplot continue to grow. However its strengths are manifest a well. The inherent weakness in this particular subplot is that the world is seen from only two view points. The humans who follow a vast machine AI (Majestic) and the underdogs who have only a lesser computational resource. Essentially it's the out of the box humans against the vast logical application of nearly unlimited computational resources.Mr. Wehr has a problem (one that is typical for this particular storyline). If the out of the box humans are successful then the conflict ends as does the story. So when he (Mr. Wehr) comes up with a complete game changer for the underdogs, he's forced to use the weakest coincidence coupled with the weakest application of the bass guys Majestic, to keep the storyline alive. Yeah this is a dodge, but so what?The other classic problem with this subplot is linear developments. When both sides have hundreds of planets (and they do) then rather a central directive to concentrate R&D on one or two threads, reality would be hundreds of development efforts in many directions and the guys in charge would pick and choose. However this subplot pretty much requires that the reads is engaged in the reasoning of how to deploy R&D resources. So hundreds of planets with hundreds of thousands of R&D fold get boiled down to two or three efforts. So what?The book is well written, edited, and proofed. It's a fun read and it's priced right.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A must for Piper fans By sully I received an advance copy of Rumors of Honor from Dietmar Wehr. Today I purchased a copy. I have been a fan of H Beam Piper since 1978 when I first read Space Viking. When I learned he was dead I thought I would never read more stories set in his future history. I am glad to be wrong. Dietmar Wehr has not only returned to that universe but he has given it his own twist and taken it in a new direction. This book is a return to the classic space opera. I truly hope that there will be more adventures to follow. Piper would be proud.

Fantastic read By blakedoh This is a wonderful book in the series and does not disappoint the reader with the characters and the development of the story. This book has made me late for other things as I can't put this down when I start reading it.
