Helpful read to help you get the job you want By Ellen Kammerer Interview help, resume-building skills, and finding just the right job is difficult these days. So, if you are looking for tips and tricks to not only getting you that interview you’ve wanted, but to help you get the job, then pick up this quick and easy read.Putting together a compelling resume can be challenging, so Oberman goes through what is important to make your resume standout against the crowd. He focuses on important factors such as relative experience and skills that will help you with the job in which you are applying, making sure you know what to highlight on your personal resume.Of course the actual interview can be a nerve wracking experience, especially if you are out of practice. Oberman, goes through different steps to help you prepare. For example, he offers tips for better self-presentation and making a good first impression. He also suggests researching the employer, so you have a better idea of how to answer questions or what kinds of questions to ask during the interview. For example, you should know a bit about the company history, business philosophy, the basic duties of the position you’re applying for, and, if possible, a bit about the interviewer. Finally, Oberman finishes this book with a few essential tips on how to answer those hard interview questions.

The author gives a thorough breakdown of job hunting, from building your resume to dressing for your interview (both men and women) to presenting yourself on the occasion you do manage to land the interview. The best advice Oberman gives however, is the debriefing step, where you take a moment to revisit your interview and/or resume and think about things that you could improve on. That way, even if you don't get the interview, you have a better understanding of what not to do next time.Overall, this was a very useful guide and I definitely plan to use some of these tips the next time around. I would recommend it to everyone, whether you're just starting out or you're an experienced job hunter. Everyone can definitely get something out of this book.

Because I have over 20 years in the workforce, I felt like I already knew a whole lot about resume writing and interview skills, but even I learned some things from this book that I did not know or realize beforehand. This book was expertly written and is so much more than just an average "guide" to resume building and interviewing. This book starts from the very beginning at constructing and forming the perfect resume all the way through to after your interview and what you should do afterwards. I was very impressed with how Oberman structured this book. I write people's resumes for a living and there was information in this book that I will take into account from now on to better my own resume writing skills. As for the interviewing section of this book-- very impressive. Not just informative,but a step-by-step outline of do's and don'ts and the whys and hows. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to hone their resume-building and/or interviewing skills. You will NOT be disappointed!
